Do you prefer to...

1) Draw your art in Flash before animating.
2) Draw offline then scan in.
3) Draw in another program then import into Flash?

Depends on what I'm doing...

If I'm making a background, I prefer to use Flash straight off the bat. That way I can take advantage of the snapping of lines to make decent scenes with perspective, or play about constantly with the scene to make something fairly impressive and vector arty.

With characters I at least sketch them out beforehand, and scan them into Flash. I also break out my Wacom at this point, because I'm still trying to get used to it. Normally the pen tool is a life saver for me at this point, but I take full advantage of the pressure sensitivity options in Flash to use the Brush tool and my tablet together.

Finally, for special effects I like to use Fireworks. The output's high quality, supports alpha channels, and imports well to Flash. Not to mention it compresses fairly well. I suppose that when I get arround to buying Flash 8 (or more likely the rate my finances are going, Flash 9), I'll substitute Fireworks for the effects panel there.

If you actually know how to use bitmaps in flash, then scanned graphics can produce some really nice effects, imported photoshop graphics can also look really great if used properly.

Draw in flash. It's just much more convenient. Scanning shit takes forever.

Im so rusted stuck in flash right now that any type of non-vector drawing almost feels like having a conversation with an alien. I paint and make traditional drawings every now and then to not turn completely in a 21st century digital brat, but for vector animation it seems to me more a burden than a blessing to scan traditional drawings in.

The technique I like most is drawing the art, scanning it, importing the file and using flash to re - draw it on a new layer. Usually my arts sketchy, so it makes it easier to tidy it up, and tweak anything i didnt get quite right.

I own a Wacom, but it's only the size of a standard mousepad and so the stylus is of almost no use to me and this pretty much defeats the purpose.

I own a scanner but I generally have trouble scanning sraight into flash and so I import into MS Paint, edit, and import into flash.

Generally speaking, my work looks the best when I draw n all flash. The problem is, I end up having 10-15 layers, which is mildly inconvienent. All around, I'd say.
