General Rules for Requesters:
If you are planning on requesting reviews, please:
- Post a direct link to the submission(s) you want reviewed.
- Make no more than 3 requests within one week.
- Do us a favour and respond to our reviews.
- Be patient. Due to the points system, you may not see reviews until up to two weeks after you request.
- Do NOT request without posting a link.
- Do NOT just say "Review everything" or just link to your profile.
- Do NOT request reviews for the same submission more than once.
General Rules for New Reviewers:
If you are planning on completing requests, please do the following:
- Post in this thread to let us know you'd like to join.
- Understand the points system and keep track of your own score. You will only be added to the list if you post your own score within the first week.
Points:
**Please also keep track of your own points. If you see something missing, it's probably a mistake**
**To be on the list, you must make at least one review, posters only will not be counted**
5 points for a review on a requested movie/game
7 points for a review on a requested audio
+1 point for putting "Review Request Club" at the bottom of a requested review
3 points for posting at least once throughout the week
5 points for referring a new member (must mention you in first post)
7 points for reviewing all requests/recommendations for that week
Club updates
Each Sunday or Monday, Haggard or Shanus currently create a list of all the members, counting up their points, calculating various stats and posting a list of requested submissions. Assuming you review the submissions listed, you will get points for them on the following members' update, 6 or 7 days later.
On Thursday, Bezman currently creates a list of all requests and recommendations made up until then, since the previous thursday. This can be seen as a 'preview' of the list that will accompany the following members' update on Sunday/Monday. The points for these are tallied 10 days later.
Requests made between the 'preview list' and the 'members' update' carry over to the next preview list. So you will always have over 9 days to finish the reviews. (Feel free to review submissions as soon as they are requested!)
FAQ
Should we have a FAQ?
I don't know. It kinda seems like overkill.
Should I link to the club in my sig?
There's no obligation to do so, but it's certainly appreciated. Remember that you can put a high number in place of the page number in the url and if that page doesn't exist yet, NG will take you to the latest page, whatever it is.
So if you link to: http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/4834 48/999
then anyone following that link will always see the latest page.
I don't understand what recommendations are all about!
As mentioned under this section in each list, 'You may make a recommendation if you reviewed 100% of the previous weeks requests and recommendations. It should be over 3 days old and have under 50 reviews.'
As long as your name is on the last 'All requests completed' list, feel free to recommend something you've enjoyed from the portal.
You could use this to let us know about something you think is specially awesome, yet overlooked. If there aren't many game or movie requests, maybe you could make a recommendation so we have something to review.

Sure thing!
I checked your reviews and though short, you seem to have clear criticisms and praise to give, which is great.
I'd suggest that some, like your review for ' -HarDon-' should be lengthened to be more like your reviews for 'Atom Bomb--_--goa Trance" and ' Xtreme Wave {DJ S}', where you're more specific about WHY you like it and actually give constructive criicisms.
Review some of the stuff in Haggard's list on the previous page. Let us know on Sunday morning (or earlier) how many you reviewed and how many 'points' you garnered. Then Haggard will add you to the list next Monday.
Welcome to the club!

Yeah ultimately, none of us are likely to get awards, make a living or radically improve our lives from reviewing. It should be just a fun thing to do.
I wonder how you others people get round this without buring out?. I really like to do next weeks list.
I personally don't have as good a 'record' as most other folk here. But I find that challenging myself to write a review within X minutes makes it more fun. For example, with a 2 minute song, I'll have normally already listened to it once or twice in the background. Then, when it comes to review, I challenge myself to write a review within three playthroughs - once to just listen and soak up the details, then 2 more loops to quickly type up my thoughts.
Having short time limits can make things more fun.

Hm, still with the elite, but I'm concerned about some of your guys reviews. This isn't fucking youtube, please actually review the submissions. Stop this small commenting stuff it's annoying. Anyone could get all reviews done if you only right a couple of lines. I think there should be some sort of rules where you have to have over 3 maybe even 5 lines in your reviews not counting when you push enter.
I'm in two minds about what you're saying. On the one hand - yeah, a more thorough review is far more useful to an author and when I submit flash, the thorough ones are worth multiple 'comment-style' ones as the former actually give me ideas of what would be useful to improve, what to keep doing etc.
On the other hand, a short review is far better than nothing - at least giving an opinion (and even a short comment can contain a bit of specific praise and some constructive criticism).
Personally, there have been times when I've watched (or played) something, felt like my review wouldn't be thorough enough if I wrote it then, decided to come back to it later and ended up writing nothing in the end.
That's probably the worst thing to do and lambasting people on general terms for writing shitty reviews just results in a bit of resentment and ill-feeling. And in the end, this shouldn't be a chore - just a bit of fun.
I'd say that anyone should be commended for completing all the reviews, no matter their quality. BUT if a review seems shitty to you, call it out. Maybe suggest ways to improve the review. Review the review - maybe give constructive feedback rather than just having a blanket call for folk to lengthen their work.
I think more discussions about what makes a good review etc. might help.
Sorry for the lack of a solid conclusion, but basically I feel like we should be willing to 'call out' specific people or reviews and still commend people for even writing however much they do.
