I would like to request to rejoin the RRC again. I know I left a while back, but I haven't gotten to review much in a long time, and I would love to get back into it. Hopefully you guys can afford to let me back in as I'm very sure it's getting fairly busy here lately. Thanks in advance.

Welcome! As already said, review the requests posted in the last list, then after reporting back to state how many points you've gotten, you'll be added to the next list.

Remember to actually give some specific constructive criticism - maybe say something you liked, state something you didn't, saying how it can be improved and also maybe give a summary of your overall opinion.

I'm not sure asking for reciprocal reviews after a 1-liner is polite.

Deleted a few words from the rules for sake of brevity. As usual, tell me if you think it was better before.

I have 2 small suggestions/questions regarding 'official' club business. Firstly, how about some 'form' of the rules for reviewers/requestors to be posted on the top of each page? Normally we only move about 1 page each week, but for more active weeks like last week, it might be nice to have a little thing to copy/paste to the top of each page, so those who click a link to the last page can quickly see what goes on here. I know I mentioned it a while back and there was some reason it never happened, but I can't remember what that reason was.

Secondly - how would you two review-list-maintainers (Shanus/Haggard) feel about raising the max.# of reviews in a permitted reccommendation? I really wanted to reccommend a game, since there's only one-ish on the list, but the ones I'd reccommend have over 30 reviews. Would 40 reviews make the list-making unmanagable?

If you want to join, then I would suggest checking out the post I made earlier on page 158. Also, if you're going to write reviews for the requests here you're going to need to put a bit more effort into your reviews. And try not leaving reviews like "you suck". Even if what you're reviewing did suck, the point is to offer constructive criticisms to help the author improve, not just generally insulting them. ;)

I have a few criticisms directed towards the memebers criticism regarding audio reviews :)

1. It seems like a lot of you hand out lower scores to loops just because they are short - just remember that the audio portal was originally designed for loops to be used in flash games, even though there's not a lot of them loops on NG very much do have their purpose

2. A common criticism I hear is "it could loop better" - make sure the track has played through a couple times, a lot of times the Flash player has to "warm up" before the music plays seamlessly, it often lags when looping the song the first or second time through. There is also a natural small silence added at the end of mp3 files, so no loop in this file format will loop 100% perfectly. Compositional wise, it takes a musical ear to know what sounds good and what doesn't. Sometimes the average listener can point out something that doesn't loop well - if the piece ends and there's a few seconds of silence transitioning back into the beginning, that's a rather obvious one. some things that you need more of an ear for regard the way "circular" chord progressions are looped and whether they flow from the end right back into the front.

3. Kind of like the first criticism, if a track is too short, it can still serve its purpose. If you still think its too short, give reasons why "the guitar riff was not elaborated enough", "the intro was to short; you need to make your tracks longer and let the individual parts buildup", "the intro was unproportional with the rest of the track, make the body longer" those are some broad examples.

4. "It's too repetitive"...Be aware of the genre...some genres especially the EDM styles have repetition as part of one of the elements in the song...be specific and say what is repetive, and why it needs variation

5. Mainly, just give reasons why you think things are this way...or that...and give suggestions or replacements in how they would be able to make their track better.

It's always handy to hear constructive feedback on our reviewing. Even more useful, though, would be to point out issues as and when they arise - if there's a particular example of a poor criticism we've made in a review, tell us in a response! If playing the file on an external media player (winamp/iTunes or whatever) this shouldn't be an issue.

What is EDM? I'm not familiar with all genre names.

I understand the reasoning for dance music to have a repetitive tempo and rhythm - to make it simpler to dance to - but there seems no reason to preclude melody progression or some changing of a few background layers at least - we can get into the 'trance' (no pun intended) and let our body flow, but it's good to have some change-ups or progression to keep our ears entertained when clubbing.

That's something I try to keep in mind, but I'll redouble my efforts. ;-)

You get a better ranking on a list, which is actually a big deal on newgrounds. You also get to help other people out by reviewing their submissions which should be enough reward for you. Not mentioning it helps you get your review count up.

Just giving everyone an update. :P

Seems lots of activity going on this week, and I hope the new member realize that the MUST POST THEIR POINTS for the week before 00:00 GMT on Monday. People always forget to do this and complain, but it's posted in the rules every week, so don't blame anyone but yourselves :P

Also thanks to Bezman for next weeks list, and I agree completely about the Spotlight Submission rules. I also wanted to suggest a movie but couldn't because it had 50ish reviews. We need a revision of the rule.

I'd also like to thank Metal-Therapy for explaining the rules to NEARLY EVERY new member that's posted the last few days. You're doing a good job man, making my life easier anyway :P

And on replying to Suspended-3rd-Chord's criticisms, I'd have to agree with him. I try and review the whole loop as what it's meant to be, but do fall into the trap of saying it's too short etc. But I do try, I'd hope the rest of the members do the same.

I'd also like welcome back AnalPenguinFarming, nice to see a member returning, too bad you gotta start your points again though :/
