The other day I brought a 1972 camaro for $1100, but the only downside… the engine wasn’t working. I had a car inspector go and check it out to see if anything else was wrong with it, I was in luck, everything else was fine. So I was looking on eBay for a replacement engine, and found an engine on eBay (540 CHEVY BIG BLOCK BY NASCAR BUILDER search for it on eBay if you want) would it be possible to buy this (or something like this) and take it to a mechanic and pay them to install it into my 72 camaro? Or would I need to buy extra “parts” if so what would I need (I think I may need a new tranny, and a new radiator) and tell me how much all the parts will cost if possible (I think this is the first question that a noob has asked that doesn’t have to do with fixing computers)

Yeah, although I think he only really knows about the new camaros.

If you want something like a fucking big-block 540 put in your car, though....shit. That's probably going to need body work to make it fit, new radiator (especially if the old one is a v-6), new carb (if it doesen't have one)...hell, it probably woulden't be worth your time. You're asking for something FAR from stock to be put in there.

Not to mention a new transmission. You're going to need a whole new drivetrain, basically. I don't even know if the mounts would fit, you might have to get a custom setup. You might need a whole new chassis. too. I'd go down to a body shop and see what you need to get done.

If you're putting a 540 in, it probably won't end up being street legal. Only do it if you're looking for a straight up drag car. For a Camero I'd suggest something more along the lines of a 340 at most.
