I don't think the planet will be destroyed for a long long time, but the world as we know it may end, probably after World War 3 (super random wild guess, within 10 years).
Just my personal thoughts.

That reminds me of a quote from Einstein,
'I don't know what weapons we will use in WW3, but in WW4 we will be using sticks and stones.'
Sad but true.

Senarios:
1. Wepons Of Mass Destruction. World War III breaks out, Nukes, Bio-Wepons are all used. Civilizations are destroyed, billions are killed. The world is sent into a Nukeular winter. All life on earth is ended.
2. Global Warming. World heats up, Ice Caps melt. The world is covered by mass amounts of water.
3. Sun Dies. The Sun runs out of energy and the world is encased in dark and cold, extreem cold. But that wont happend for another billion years.
4. Asteroid. The Earth is hit by a large object from space causing a massive tidal wave(If it landed in the oceans) or a large dust cloud that covers the world, blocking out the sun.
There are plenty more, but I don't want to get into them, maybe later.

That would not destroy everything, just a lot. There would be a few survivors, unless I have underestimated how big the Ice Caps are.
3. Sun Dies. The Sun runs out of energy and the world is encased in dark and cold, extreem cold. But that wont happend for another billion years.
Before it would lose it's energy, it would become a Red Giant, the sun would grow so big that it would consume Earth. After that it would go supernova and become a white dwarve.
Here are another 2 scenarios which I found out about on discovery channel:
Collision with Andromeda
Within a few billion years our star cluster will collide with the Andromeda cluster. The gravitationel forces would swing several planets into space, possibly Earth. And the sun might fuse with another star.
Getting sucked up in a big black hole in the Virgo Cluster
It seems to be that all star systems are being drawn towards the Virgo Cluster, which holds a giant black hole in the middle. Once we arrive there, we'll be sucked up by the black hole and most likely be ripped apart by the gravitationel forces within. This scenario is billions of years away, the collision with Andromeda would happen sooner.

well i think that in about 200 years it will all end by the sun and moon coming apart and coliding with earth and then we'll have to recreate everything again. only without the dinos. but hey thats just what i think.

You corrected me, so now its my turn.:p
When we are sucked into a black hole, we would be compressed into a verry small ball, then we would be ripped apart.

The way I understood it the stars don't 'run' out of energy, I was pretty sure they kept climbing the emp table (In climbing the emp table they would change colors red dwarf=Li and blah blah blah) and gaining spare neutrons till they became so dense they collapsed and formed a neutron star or blackhole, the only main difference being having an event horizon which I forget all about that stuff. I could be wrong though that was like 3 yrs ago, tra la.

No, one part of the planet would enter the event horizon of the black hole first sucking it in with the speed of light, thus ripping it apart from the rest. After that everything would be compressed into a very small ball, and once it is compressed it cannot be ripped apart anymore but it will continue to be compressed because the density of a black hole is infinite, because the same counts for the volume.
If something is compressed first it could not be ripped apart anymore. The gravitationel forces are pressing at the ball from all sides, if it would be ripped apart then that would defy the gravitationel forces, it would have to go in against them. In the end it is compressed.

Stars with less then 1.4 time the mass of our sun end up as white dwarves. Stars with between 1.4 and 3 times the mass of our sun end up as neutron stars and stars with 3 time the mass of our sun end up has black holes. I don't know what happens whith the white dwarves or neutron stars but the black holes would eventually evaporate, over a very, VERY long time.

Another way to explain why things fall but its really vague and mostly bs in my opinion, but some peeps do believe it. Instead of the earths gravity pulling something down, imagine the world doubling in size along with everything else in the uni. So an object that was 'falling' to earth wouldn't be falling, the earth would be expanding to it and it to the earth. Sorta a neat idea but meh.

Their really is no possibility of this happening anymore given our technological progressions. If you remember in early 1999, astronomers predicted that a rather large asteroid was headed for earth, and would make impact in 2027 I believe it was. It turns out they made a miscalculation, and that this large asteroid will in fact miss us. However, given our technology, if this asteroid had been on track for earth we would have literally had 28 years to figure out what to do, and I'm fairly confident we could have dealt with it without the world ending.

Although we would have had 28 years to figure out what to do, it wouldnt be very simple to deal with it. Perhaps we would have needed technology that we didnt have and wouldnt get in the coming years either to deal with the asteroid. Also, we can only search a small amount of the sky for these objects. There are many that haven't been discovered yet, it certainly is possible. And although the chance is small, an asteroid or meteor impact is possible.
