Recently, I started using YouTube.com. The site itself is great -- people upload videos for free, and anyone can watch them, and you can make playlists, and favorites lists, and blah blah blah.

But the people who upload videos to that site just piss me off to no end. Basically... well... how do I put this... they're idiots.

First of all, I have never seen a video description with fewer than 50 typos. I can understand occasional mistakes. But I don't understand how someone could type a nearly-illegible sentence and not even notice. No capitalization, no punctuation, misspelled words all over the place... I even see misspellings in the video titles. Are they really too motherfucking lazy to look at the god damned monitor before pressing enter? Fuck. When I see a typo, I go back and fix it, so that people won't think my mother smoked crack when she was pregnant.

Second of all, they don't give a shit when the stolen video that they're uploading has already been uploaded by twenty thousand other people. It's bad enough when some idiot uploads a video that he ripped from another site, boldly declaring, "lol, dis isnt mine, i found it." But I've seen the same video appear up to four times in a row on a single search, all uploaded by idiots who stole them from the same place.

For example, I was searching for a clip from the Fullmetal Alchemist movie... a fight scene, actually. A good one. But instead of a simple video clip of this kick-ass scene, all I could find was some shitty AMV that someone made. (AMV means Anime Music Video, for you idiots.) And it isn't even a good one. Three different people uploaded this crappy piece of crap, and none of them even made it. I also found several other videos of the fight scene, but all of them were fagged up with shitty music that doesn't even match the movie at all, because YouTube users don't know how to upload a video without ruining it first.

I hate people.

Harsh.

Yeah, I know. People who don't know what AMV stands for are probably better off, since most AMVs are just low-quality clips of Naruto mixed with some song by Linkin Park.

I just felt like being an asshole, is all. It's not like anyone's going to take me seriously anyway.

Lol, but it's true, though.
And I know what you mean about how there are so many versions of an AMV for any sort of anime or video, to say the least. I was looking up Sailor Moon videos (for fun), and I kept encountering the same videos over... and over... and over again. I thought it was just me, and that I wasn't going to the next page.

Stupid idiots, can't spell for shit.

And AMVs are horrific sometimes, bad syncing and just... oh god, I won't go there.

You'll complain about people who can't spell or use proper grammer, yet you have no problem with them breaking the law and putting the videos there in the first place.

Well, I do have a problem with idiots stealing an AMV that someone else made. And I do have a problem with people uploading whole entire movies to the site, thinking they won't get caught. But I don't see anything wrong with using a few clips from an anime to make a little music video that probably helps promote the anime better than a TV commercial would. I've never heard of anyone getting sued for making an AMV, either. Anime and Music companies have better things to do, I guess.

Yes, you are right. I love YouTube, but there's too many morons.

There have been a couple works on this site that have been pulled and all they used were likenesses to running anime series. I can think of one specifically that was out before an anime was released and still got pulled. It involved a battle sequence with swords next to a train. The only similar thing was the main characters face. There have also been movies pulled on account of the music they use. The one that made #1 on here called -miss you- is now completly gone.

Its not that they don't care. It is wrong, it is just dificult to enforce any kind of law on the internet. I'm sure we will find as technology progresses these things start to get cracked down on. But morally it is wrong to steal even a bit of anything. How many bits will get put up by different people untill the entire movie is on You Tube.

Eh... you've got a good point.

Good thing I don't know how to make AMVs :-)
