Wow. A difference of 0.82 between the 1st and 2nd place winners.
But Adam Phillips absolutely deserves his 4.75/5.00 score. A lot of people are complaining that it's just an action sequence. If you ask me, not only is it a great action sequence, but it develops Bitey as a character quite a bit and shows us his positive qualities (I wouldn't have believed that either of these were possible), and it also has a deeper meaning to it - the whole thing can be viewed as an allegory.
I run away from problems like that quite a bit myself, only to find them popping up again when I least expect them. The only solution is to face them head-on, the movie seems to be saying.
From the YuYu's standpoint, they obviously got far too confident and didn't realize their weaknesses. The movie has a lot to say, really, though I'm not fully sure if Adam realized it.
And of course, the action, camera angles, and excellent character animation didn't hurt! :D I remember Adam Phillips saying a few years ago that he was not a very good character animator - I don't think he has a right to say that anymore!
Watching "the YuYu" was like watching "Bitey of Brackenwood" for the first time all over again.
