Yep, its a small world. I'll be there ALL July in an older building (NO air conditioning, GASP! I'm bringing three fans), but its for creative writing, which I do enjoy very much, so it'll be worth it...
plus, its free
BTW, I know you've been to South Street, but I gotta ask, any decent metal shops?

I feel your pain, man. There is NOTHING black metal over here. ANd yes, Cows, trends are different in different places. Here, mention black metal and people say "Niggaz don't play metal, y'allz! Those are a bunch of cracka-ass marks!"

in colorado it's all a bunch of upper middle class white people that listen to whatever aol music tells them to. there are roughly 3 black metal fans beside myself in the state, and all of them work at the store where i get all of mine. (10$ for new import cds and $8 for u.s. releases) luckily the store specializes in cult and rarities so i can just have them order anything they don't have (which isn't much)
Some say that I'm strange. The rest just haven't met me. STORY WITH ROBOTS!!!!!!!! --=+tom!3!rulz+=-- Buddha Bomb, bitches. NG MAC FFS

NEW ALBUM ALERT:
While going through Telegraph Ave. in Berkeley to get some grass, I stumbled upon the Rasputin Recs. I decided to go in, and I bought Pure Holocaust by Immortal. Well, I still like Battles in the North better, of their old era. BITN was colder, epic-er, and more varied. But I still like Pure Holocaust. It's just not the real masterpiece everyone says it is.

I really love Nuclear War Now productions. They have an awesome line-up. I've been listening to a lot of their bands lately. I picked up the Domini Inferi/Warhate 12" split, Proclamation's Advent of the Black Omen and Blasphemy - Live Ritual this weekend. I've also been listening to lots of Toxic Holocaust.

Shit, hook me up with some of that shit. I shall check Nuclear War Now productions. Is like NSBM? Cuz I don't listen to nearly enough NSBM.

Public computers = the suck, but it's better than nothing. That sucks, NEW COMP asap. I have Pure Holocaust (ripped copy), but really haven't listened to it enough to make an educated verdict on it. People here are less cool than they were two days ago...

Well Ghoul, I finally got around to joining. I've only been into black metal for a year, but so far i've found a few good bands:

Nice list, man, for only having listened to it for a year. Hell, nice list in general. Didja know Naglfar's name is from Viking mythology? The exact source I forget, but it's from viking mythology. Might I recommend In Battle and Setherial? They seem right up your alley.

Setherial would probably be a good choice due to the 1349-ish styling. I am going to the mall today on a "field trip". If I pick up anything interesting, I'll let you guys know.

doom metallers: i'm 50/50 about whether or not to get into doom metal, i mostly stick to black. on one hand i like it just fine, but on the other i have no knowledge base about it. what are some bands i should listen to to get a real feel for doom?

For some great black/doom combination I reccomend Forgotten Tomb. They are fantastic.

Skepticism and Thergothon, maybe Paradise Lost, too. And Agalloch.

They're like 1349 but epic and have fucking long ass songs (At least on Nord).

cows and ghoul: i wrote that down and will have some by the end of the week, thanks.

The only thing worth mentioning (here) that I got on the mall trip was a Dark Tranquillity cd I'd been trying to get for about a year - but that isn't black metal. Despite that rarity (in my circumstance), the BM selection was slim at best, and I didn't see anything I like.
Doom is decent. If you like it, try Sunn O))) (...must plug Sunn O)))...)

Right. You can't search for Sunn 0))) because of the parentheses.
