Hello.
I'm looking to buy a new set of Headphones for all things music based.
I currently use the very good SonyMDR-CD380, but am well aware that there are many better sets of cans out there.
I was wondering if anyone has some advice and what sort of headphones you use/rely on, any pro's/con's and what would you consider the best make to go for within my £70 limit.
They have to be full-size headphones as I need the best outside noise reduction possible, I have noisy flatmates:)

Thanks in advance for any help, ideas.

Did you just make your account to post this question? Anyway, if you're going to be using them for mastering tracks, get monitors. Mastering songs thru headphones causes a lot of volume problems. Get a nice set of studio monitors.

Nope, I plan on submitting some music soon and I wanted to start an account.
I have a nice set of monitors already, but I like to master through both phones and monitors, also phones are an essential bit of kit as I live in incredibly thin walled student halls of residence and can't make a huge amount of noise as I will disturb everyone around me.
So, your reply really doesn't help or answer my question.

I use headphones for mastering, its not that much more difficult.

I don't know any specific ones, but I personally like to find ones which are built more for bass. I found that many many earphones are slightly leaning towards treble, as those are easier to produce. 70 pounds, will probably get some good ones.

shure e2c's. They have the best noise reduction of any headphones i've tried. They use a technique called 'sound isolation' as opposed to noise cancelling. to put it simply, they're earplugs with really nice headphones in them. They come highly reccommended. They'll block out even the noisiest of roommates.

I think it's out of your price range, but Sennheiser HD280s are really nice. I've read all about them and I'm getting them for my birthday.

I personally own a pair of HD280s, and I can definitely recommend them. They do sound a bit cold and bass-light, but that's because these headphones are built specifically for monitoring and are almost completely accurate to the source. As they are full-sized, closed-back headphones, they are also excellent at sound reduction.

If you're willing to slightly stretch your budget (or if you can find one for less), the HD280s are possibly the best monitoring headphones you can buy for the price.

for the last year or so i've been using a part of sony MDR-V150's. Pretty light weight, but the frequency responce is amazing (for headphones) and you can really hear te bass with them. Also, they've lasted a lot longer than any other sets of headphones i've had before.

but over its damn good for its price :D (50$ aud, roughly 35$ USD) got 50% discount too......
