microsoft sound recorder is the shnizzle dawg, its so hot it records sound. Or alternatively try the sticky's as they tell you all you need to know about geting started in the world of audio production. but be warned once you start you aint ever gonna stop.

Yeah man, musics the ultimate drug. The amount of times i've gotten pissed off and NEARLY deleted reason and acid pro, but never managed it.

Get fruity loops mate, pretty much every beginner gets that programme, the pro's can make pro soundin stuff with it too, tho many people move onto different programmes which they find suit them better.

I agree that you should just check the stickys at the top of the AP.

I personally use Soundforge, Finale, and a number of different programs depending on what my particular purpose is at that time.

Just choose one and run with it, and hey, there's almost always free trials.

read New to Audio? thats a stickie. If your looking to make music,(and i take it you have no syths of your own) than try fruity loops, like spam warrior said thats the best for beginners, and it has that export to mp3 thing.
