For anyone who dose'nt know;

Scientology is a mass cult started in the 1950's by the sci-fi wrighter L. Ron Hubbard that uses 'regresion therapy' or 'Dianetics' to manipulate people into giving away they're money and even they're lives. Or as 'Operation Clambake' state on they're website: "Scientology is a confused concoction of crackpot, dangerously applied psychotherapy, oversimplified, idiotic and inapplicable rules and ideas and science-fiction drivel that is presented to its members (at the "advanced" levels) as profound spiritual truth"

Scientology is also 'endorsed' by a number of A to Z list 'celebs' including Tom Cruise, John Travolta, Lisa Marie Presley, Isaac Hayes (AKA: Chef from South Park) and the list gos on. Basicaly they all claim that L. Ron Hubbards money making scheme is an actual religion that can help many people, yet I dont see them helping. If they claim to be able to help people then why dont they? Or are they themselves using it for they're own personal gain?

After reading parts of the official Scientology site for both the US and UK I became sure upon two things;
The first being that I am to scared to read the whole site just incase they convert me,
And second,
I would NOT leave children near L. Ron Hubbard

Acording to the official US website (note: The UK website mainly links back to the US site) Scientology is derived from the Latin word "scio" meaning "knowing in the fullest sense of the word" and the Greek word "logos" meaning "study of". Or to put it simply "the study of truth".

Now enough about what it means, lets find out what they're views on contraband substances are;

"We live in a chemical-oriented society. The past century's technological advances have produced many damaging by-products that threaten well-being — from the smog in the air we breathe to the thousands of chemical additives in the food we eat. Moreover, the use of street drugs has proliferated since the mid-20th century at all levels of society, as well as prescription of mind and mood-altering drugs.
Drugs, pollutants and other chemicals are essentially poisons and take their toll on a person's body by depleting its stores of vitamins and minerals, leading to susceptibility to other health problems.
Quite in addition to physiological damage, drugs and toxins decrease mental alertness and perception and can contribute to many undesirable states, from unfeeling to hostile. This biochemical factor is a barrier to spiritual freedom."

Now to me most of this makes sense and is the standard stuff they drive into you at school (all except from that last sentance).

So... Whats the solution "Dr." Hubbard?

"The Purification Rundown includes exercise to dislodge toxic residues.
Followed immediately by sweating in a sauna, these toxins are flushed from the system. Mega-vitamin and mineral dosages and extra oil are vital factors in helping to repair the body."

So basicaly they want you to come to they're expensive day spa so they can fill your brain full of wacked out images that make you want to buy in to Scientology.

So what do they aim to do if anything?

WARNING: ONLY READ THE FOLOWING IF YOUR STRONG MINDED AND NOT EASELY LEAD.

"The Aims of Scientology

A civilization without insanity, without criminals and without war, where the able can prosper and honest beings can have rights, and where man is free to rise to greater heights, are the aims of Scientology.

First announced to an enturbulated world in 1950, these aims are well within the grasp of our technology.

Nonpolitical in nature, Scientology welcomes any individual of any creed, race or nation.

We seek no revolution. We seek only evolution to higher states of being for the individual and for society. We are achieving our aims.

After endless millennia of ignorance about himself, his mind and the universe, a breakthrough has been made for man.

Other efforts man has made have been surpassed.

The combined truths of fifty thousand years of thinking men, distilled and amplified by new discoveries about man, have made for this success.

We welcome you to Scientology. We only expect of you your help in achieving our aims and helping others. We expect you to be helped.

Scientology is the most vital movement on Earth today.

In a turbulent world, the job is not easy. But then, if it were, we wouldn't have to be doing it.

We respect man and believe he is worthy of help. We respect you and believe you, too, can help.

Scientology does not owe its help. We have done nothing to cause us to propitiate. Had we done so, we would not now be bright enough to do what we are doing.

Man suspects all offers of help. He has often been betrayed, his confidence shattered. Too frequently he has given his trust and been betrayed. We may err, for we build a world with broken straws. But we will never betray your faith in us so long as you are one of us.

The sun never sets on Scientology.

And may a new day dawn for you, for those you love and for man.

Our aims are simple, if great.

And we will succeed, and are succeeding at each new revolution of the Earth.

Your help is acceptable to us.

Our help is yours.

L. Ron Hubbard "

If you have read the above and have been converted then I am sorry. However if you read the above and think its a load of crap then please help in making some small stand against this sub-cult of celebrity and do some research into them. Post your findings here so that others can find out the truth.

However, I could be wrong. Scientology could turn out to be wonderfull, but the evidence is stacked against it.

It would've been easier to leave a link to the site you copied and pasted that from in order to at least give them a slight amount of credit.

Did you actually write all that, or did you just copy and paste.

Either way, your right. Scientology is uber crap. Kinda like that religion about the pasta monster that was made as a bet. Its kinda sad, but when you think about it people will follow anything that sounds in the least bit appealing.

could someone go get the script of that south park episode and paste the part where they say what scientoligists believe. Because cnn said that tom cruise was mad because that stuff was true and people had to pay for that information but everyone was getting it for free. I want someone to post that just to tell more people that way we can slowly kill scientology.

IMO it isn't any more daft than people putting 'Jedi' as their religion on application forms.

That said, BURN THE CRIPPLES. Men in Hats.

It is true! that is what they actually believe, aliens and all! It makes me want to cry out with laughter it's so pathetic. It's so sad that anyone could believe that load of shit, It's a joke, I mean it was created by a freak who wrote science fiction tales.

Anyway here is the jist of what can be recieved from the episode: Billions of years ago there was a mass halocaust of aliens, They were taken to An outer system of planets (earth) To be destroyed. Well when they were done with killing the alien race the destroyed all past things they had built on earth and left. Well what happened then is the remaining souls of the aliens fused with the primative humans causing the human mind to evolve.

That is the story....

The part where you said "only read if you're strong minded" I don't understand how that could make anyone want to join scientology unless the were mentally challenged and even then it would be tough.
