USA Today addressed this in an article today. Many Israelis voted for Sharon because they hate Arafat.
Sharon doesn't like the idea of forming a coalition with the religious parties. Unfortunately, Shinui may not join and Labor has refused to join.
I don't like Sharon but at least Israelis have the right to vote for their leaders.

Isreal has always wanted peace. how do you think Isreal would end up if they didn't fight. They have tried negotioating with Palestine. they have tried giving them land. It's a holy and religeos war they're fighting. Isreal has no choice bu to use force.

What a load of shit. Israel has always wanted peace? My ass. That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. If they wanted peace they wouldn't be killing children and they continue to make more settlements. And as for that "generous" offer a Camp David? It was a huge lie. The reason the Palestinians didn't accept it was because it gave them a phony state. Powel said that himself just last week.

If Israel wanted peace they would end the brutal occupation. Palestinians are starving and are treating as slaves. You won't hear most of these stories in the American media because Jewish groups have a strong grasp on the media. There is more condemnation of Israel in Israel then there is in the U.S.A. Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch continually report the war crime of the Israeli army. Just recently they killed a U.N. representative and made up a story to justify it. The U.N. didn't buy it for a second. Eye witnesses told what really happened. Israel is in violation of 69 U.N. resolutions. I could show you thousands upon thousands of reports by Human Rights agencies reporting the war crimes of the Israeli army. Tell me something. Most Americans know that 700 Israelis have died since the intifada started. But explain to me why 2,100 Palestinians have died in that same time? Ariel Sharon doesn't want peace. He is a war criminal. Israel itself convicted him of being responsible for the Sabra and Shatila massacre-

Mushroom: While I wholeheartedly agree with your point of view you really need to get different sources. People like no better than to change the focus of a debate to the validiaty of your source. Quoting things which show a clear bias is not a good idea. This often happens when a left-winger tries to debate a right-winger. Naomi Klein recognised this once, so she decided to totally fuck this person she was debating over. This person was from like USA today or something, so Naomi backed up all her statements with quotes and sources from USA today.
