Ok.. this isn't exactly about help with the actual program, but someone on here can most likely help me..
Anyways, I found a pretty good deal on reason 2.0 (i'll just do the upgrade to 3.0), but the guy said its sold "AS IS".... and it does include the serial number... So, what I want to know is if I can download reason 2.0 from propellerheads with just the serial number supposing the disks do not work.. or if I can buy the upgrade version of 3.0 and make it work only with a reason 2.0 serial number..
If you have any idea, please help me out.

This guy might not know what he is talking about or he is taking you on a ride. All copies of legally bought reason should come with a serial number as in almost all large programs with the purpose of registering with the mother company. Usually the 'mother company' in this case propellerhead will not offer any of their services (upgrades) to and unregistered and their for illegal user. So I would look for a hack version of Reason 3 or look into purchasing the program from a store or whatever.

No.
Don't talk about that here.
I wouldn't trust owner either, just slap your money down on your own copy.

Nooo no no that't not what I'm asking. The copy of reason 2.0 I'm purchasing IS legitimate. It includes the original authorization card, and all the original contents of the box.. but, the discs may be potentially damaged. What I want to know is, can I upgrade to reason 3.0 with JUST the authorization card, or do I need to have the older version of reason (2.0 in my case) installed on my computer? If I DO need the older copy to be installed... then I maaay be in trouble. Now do you guys understand where I'm coming from?

Yeah I would look on limewire or any other sharing programs. Uhm look on www.jinx.com Some people might be able to help you with that there too. Of course if you are willing to try to do it illegally. Go limewire Man.

Umm... no. I have a way to do this LEGALLY and.. cheap. If anybody is new here, look up at my last reply and see if you have an answer for me.
And.. by the way, limewire doesn't have it (at least a month ago they didn't). My friend's computer got a virus trying to find it.

The authorization code to get for Reason 2.0 will only work for that version. You cannot instal reason 3.0 with that code. However, there are upgrade versions of reason that cost less.
Doing this requires you to register the serial number on propellarheads website in exchange for an upgrade code you must (should) write down.
The seller has probably already registered the serial number, making you unable to get the authorization code allowing you to upgrade Reason.
My suggestion is save the money you were going to spend on Reason 2.0, and the money required for the Reason 3.0 upgrade (like $150?)....and just get Reason 3.0.

Listen to JonH2O.
About the discs being damaged, however, when you buy reason, what you pay for is the license number. I don´t think you can download the soundbanks from
propellerheads.se but the install-disc/file is available for REGISTERED customers, thats how they pull out their updates on the program.
However, read what JonH2O wrote again, and decide if you really think it´s worth buying a second hand copy of Reason 2.0
Im not sure wether it´s possible or not to un-register so a nwe user can take part of the license, but itd guess it wont work. You should e-mail someone at
propellerheads.se and ask them, try to explain the situation as good as possible for them.
good luck, reason is a kickass program :)

You still need to buy the upgrade, and the cost of reason 2 + reason 3 upgrade = the cost of reason 3.

AAAAHHH!! Ok.. I just need to know this. If I have the authorization card, for reason 2.0, can I buy the upgrade for reason 3.0? If I have JUST the authorization code for reason 2.0, will the upgraded version install, or will I need to have the older version of reason installed?
In response to the last.. 3-ish posts. I did some looking on the propellerheads website, and you CAN get the serial number to register for you even after somebody else has registered it. It involves a bit more, but, yeah it will work.
Also, the cost of the reason 2.0 I'm getting and the upgrade for reason 3.0? Waaaayy less then a regular copy of reason 3.0

Unless you are getting the card then it's not legit.
The actual software means nothing.
Anyone who has a legit copy knws about the card - it's blue and silver and credit card sized. It has the retail version, the license version and the registration code.
And it's attached to a paper that has "Your license number is what you paid for!" in very large letters at the top.
So - "as is" means nothing because you can always get the software from propellerhead with no problems at all...
BUT
Unless you physically buying THAT CARD then you're getting ripped off. Even if someone makes you a copy or gives you the codes - it doesn't matter - the card holder is the only authorized user.
If you are a legit v2 user then just buy an upgrade - it will be less expensive.

Just buy it retail. You'll thank yourself later by skipping the 'great deal'

to LJCoffee:
I AM getting the actual card. And everything else that came in the box with the purchase of reason 2.0, BUT, the disks were not tested, and I am not sure that they will work. SO, what I am wanting to know, is... Do I need to have reason 2.0 installed on my computer in order for the 3.0 upgrade (which I will buy) to work? Or, do I just need to have the authorization card? Please help me out.
The product included screenshots of everything, including: the authorization card, the manual, the discs (which may or may not work), and everything else.

OK - I see - so you're buying the card for Reason 2 - the card is all you need - if the software doesn't work then that's no biggie
You don't need any prior version installed if you are only uding the serial number to qualify for an upgrade. The v3 upgrade is only for the price - the software itself is not dependant on a prior install.
My understanding is that you're buying a v2 serial and then using that to get an upgrade price for v3 right? Then don't worry about the software at all because you'll never need to install it anyway - and if you decide to just stick with v2 then once you register v2 in your name you can "re-download" the software from propellerhead.
I hope that helps.
