Flash Game Q.

How long might it take a beginner to make an average quality flash game? This includes planning, deciding, etc...

Try to start with animation man.

about a month. for a first, or early (within having flash for two months or so) i wouldnt advise much plannning, just go fot it and do whatever, just something shitty.

after about a month you should be able to make a 'funny to your friends' style flash.

As much effort as you put into it. I would guess maybe a month or so, and most likely, it will be not so great. I would guess about half a year to a year until games start looking decent.

I am not joking... it is a lot of work to get good at making games and learning actionscript. The first submissions will always be hack-and-slash coding, meaning that none of it will really be all that great.

Just takes practice.

I have, and they suck too.

I mean, I have Beginning Flash Game Programming for Dummies. This teaches me the basics, but right now ActionScript looks really confusing and hard to learn. I also have had flash for at least a year, (but haven't been doing much with it until the past couple of weeks).

LOTS OF PLANNING for your first game then as you get better you need EVEN MORE plannning...
but about a month or 2 to make a alright game

If you're lucky you hit front page with your first game but that doesn't happen often

I'd say about a month or two for games if you know the basic actionscript. Movies take longer to get better at though.
