What about Opera? You can use Opera as well as Firefox. But that does not matter when it is coming from me, because I am a nobody! Does anyone cares about me? Suicide looks like an appealing option for me.

And why are you reading this? You should read posts coming from regulars and anyone you actually care!

Didn't have a problem yesterday. But now I have to double-click when voting on flash submissions. Meh, not a problem.

Opera may be better than Firefox out of the box, but jacked up with extensions I much prefer Firefox. I couldn't live without the likes of Foxytunes, Gmail Notifier, Paste Email and Reveal.

But either way, IE sucks and this is great news.

I auto-updated Windows yesterday, and I just checked my IE7 beta to see if it had changed so I'd have to click the Flash but it hadn't - strange I guess.

This could be a huge blow against IE, I can see a lot of Flash users switching to FF if they haven't already. Also I guess this could be a bad thing for flash (as in flash banners and adverts on sites) because people don't want to click stuff like that in the first place - so I bet Flash does suffer significantly.

Yay for cheap Firefox plugs! I've tried more browsers than I care to think about, and I prefer it above all others. Opera is fine, but the problem is that you can only open new pages in tabs. Firefox gives you the option of opening pages in either new tabs or new windows. A subtle difference, but an important one. Plus, extensions are cool!

Thanks for the update, liljim!

Wow, no one so far said anything about Netscape, only Firefox, even though they're relatively the same.

Also, I noticed the downtime as well, but it was already late and I had to sleep anyways.

Thank you. Opera is much better than FireFox in my opinion. I still mostly use Internet Explorer, but Opera is a nifty second browser. Seriously, though. Thanks for helping to support my opinion.
If you don't believe that Opera is better in at least some ways, compare crap, such as RAM usage, hard drive space, browser speed (how fast new pages open... Opera opens much faster than Internet Explorer, so it seems I have a faster connection; I don't know how it compares with FF, but I heard it is the same).

Anyways, go with your own browser, really, though I still reccomend Opera.

it is a good idea to showcase Firefox. It is SO MUUCH better than IE. They're miles away one from each oher.
I think you should place a link to download Firefox on some NG header. There's also a nice Flash version of it in the www.spreadfirefox.com !

Anyone who has updated Windows recently, or who are set to receive automatic downloads and have them installed are going to be affected by this at some point.

I am just installing the updates. However, I don't need to install them all. Do you think avoiding installation of that thing will solve the problems? Well I don't use IE though, but, though..

Thanks to Shawn for drawing my attention to this.

AFRO-NINJA !!

By the way, I got a call from Tom saying that the site was down this morning. I swear he's bionic. I mean, who gets up to go to an office at gone 4am? Many European users noticed this outage, but it was nothing to do with them being in Europe, just the time that they were up. Service resumed shortly after the call, most likely down to Tim, who would have called the service provider.

If you haven't already read it, read Tom's news about Stagknight!

You guys are sooooo funny! What is 'exactly' bionic? I've tried via eRjecnik but nothing found.
Huh.
I am in Europe but didn't noticed t hat. Do you mean 4am by European time or by USA time?

Haha, I love NG!

For the people out there that don't already know. You can get rid of this "fix". and for gods sake, you don't need to install every update that comes to your computer. Half of them are just stupid..

But still, go to your Add/Remove programs and click "Show Updates"... Find the one's that were installed on the day these "Click to activate active x" or whatever it was. And delete them, I've done this and no problems..

Also, when these updates want to get installed again. Go to custom and see which are doing which, you can install a few of the others without the active thing going on. Sorry if this makes no sence, just wanted to help.

Good for you man! Lol, but yeah...

You don't all need to go to FF (Personally I can't stand it but I know many like it just like fools like there iPods) because you can just un-install the update with the active control on it.
