If it's salt water- they're open in a flash.

Chlorinated Water- Hell. No.

I normally open them, but it hurts after a while of the chemicals in the water.

I can swim with my eyes open, but only if I've been swimming for a few days in a row. It's just the innitial "fear" or whatever of opening your eyes that gets most people, but you become immune to it I suppose if you have constant access to them.

In short, yeah I can, after a bit. Usually I just wear googles.

I always keep em close because the chlorine burns my eyes and makes them red and puffy if I open them.

I usually have to wear goggles, because the chlorine kills my eyes. And when I'm in the sea, it looks too musty, and usually something kills my eyes in there as well. If I was in a clean swimming pool, with no chlorine in, then yeah, I'd probably be able to have my eyes open.

It burns like hell and it really doesn't make it easier to navigate around. You can swim in the direction you desire with your eyes closed. Plus, in the end you always go back up, unless you're tied to a cinder block.

I open my eyes underwater. It helps to see where you are going, especially if there are other people in the pool with you. Besides, its fun; I'm the kinda guy that will sneak up on someone from behind underwater, hoist them up on my shoulder, dump them backwards and submerge again and swim away. I couldn't do that if I kept my eyes closed :)

I love opening my eyes underwater.
It helps you know no one is in front of you when swimming.
it allows you to check out girls fine legs from up close.
everythings all blurry and wavey.
It's alot of fun.
