You could just say that you're into the 'side-scroll' fighting more than the 'free roam' fighting. It makes it easier for some people to understand. Besides, the games have technically been full 3D ever since DBGT Final Bout, if you think about it.

He didn't need to. After what Old Kai did for Gohan, the Super Saiyan transformation would only change his appearance.

I guess he meant Mystic Gohan. But from what I remember from the series the Old Kai said Gohan turning SSJ would actually weaken him. I could be wrong.
