No More Bounc3 Control!!!

Now that I have your attention...

This post is not a personal attack on BOUNC3.

It is, rather, a comment on the state of NG Trance. Since the publishing of "Paradise on E" by BOUNC3, the Trance list has morphed from a state of pure, un-altered competition to something else entirely. "Paradise on E" has enjoyed it's position within the top 3 for months now, thanks to the efforts of a dedicated group of fans, who will vote down everything else in order to keep their idol BOUNC3 on top.

STOP IT.

It is not fair to those artists who have put in much time and effort on their music for them to publish it here, then watch as it's flamed because it did better than BOUNC3 for an instant. Think for a second, those of you who aren't musicians, and those that are- how would you feel if your work was destroyed or defaced because it was good? Not that BOUNC3 isn't good, but you see my point. People are defacing other people's work by denying it recognition when it is just as deserving of praise as "Paradise on E." If you asked me, there are several on the front page who are deserving of the number one slot! Try listening to them! Vote fairly! You never know what you'll enjoy until you try something new.

BOUNC3, if you're reading this, this is not an attack on you, or your music. I myself have enjoyed listening to "Paradise on E" many times. However, I am attacking the way that these people have blocked out the Trance list, making it impossible for someone else to do as well as you have. It is simply not fair. The list should be a pure competition, with an equal shot at number 1 for everyone, rather than "Maybe I won't get shot down by BOUNC3 today."

You can flame me if you want; I don't care. I will keep saying this over and over until people see how unfair it is, and change their ways. The Portal must be kept fair!

It appears you´re quite new to the portal... Downrating happens to everyone, even B0unc3 and other more popular artists.
The diffference is, however, that the more popular artists have more votes at a total, wich means a 0 vote doesnt hurt the score as much as for a submission who only have 3-4 votes.
Everyone who´s regular in the forum, and everyone who visits the AP more or less frequent know that both voting system and the charts are more or less total bollox, as well as the weekly top5 and the randomly picked featured artist of the week. Just chill man, the whole Audio portal is unfair, but we like it anyway. Cause when the day of evolution comes to the AP, we can safley say that we were here first, and longest, and hopefully get the attention we deserve.

What did I say? This WASN 'T an attack on you BOUNC3. I DO NOT BLAME YOU FOR ANY OF IT. This was an attack on the 0 voting. If people want to vote up PoE then they should. But they should not vote down the rest of Trance in order to do so.

Yes, BOUNC3, i did know that. Again, that is not what I'm talking about. People do much more than vote 5 on you. They also vote 0 on the rest of the artists in addition to voting 5 on you. THAT is what I'm against.

Again, this was never intended as a personal attack from me against you. I acknowledge that you have no control over your fans. This was a call to awareness about the issue. If there was a percieved attack on you in the original post, I apologize.

People, please take the post for it's intent. Stop voting 0 just to keep those people you like in the top position. Vote them up, of course. But please stop voting the others down.

And as for you, Rucklo, I admit that I'm new. But seriously- this thing bugs me. One shouldn't have to wait for "the revolution" to happen. Let's start it and change the way people vote on the portal.

You're right in pointing that out- I did leave an opening in my argument, didn't I? As for your question- if you think the song sucks, then that's your opinion, you're welcome to it. If the song sucks in your opinion, then vote where you think the song falls on it's own merits . Just don't say "This sucks compared to this" or "It's not (Insert artist's name here) therefore it sucks." There's a huge difference.

B0unc3's song is in number 1 position because it deserves to be there. Hundreds of thousands of people have voted on them, and the votes are what took the track to where it is. If you don't like it, then vote lower than 5, but just because a track is number 1 is not an excuse for zero voting.

Maybe if you made some awesome music, you would reach number one too, eh?

I think we are all getting a tad bit too intense.

However it may be, even if Bounc3 has a little army to support him, it is not like the army came from nowhere. It is a cold truth, but Bounc3 was here first, and he captured the Trance hearts first, like loyalty to a king. Regardless of how angrily you vent and vent, the truth is, none of it will change the masses. Discussing topics here, with artists, who are more then aware of said conditions, would change nothing. This is like picking up that stone I was talking about, and then putting it right back. You know it's there, but nothing has been changed.

MattBlair may be right about one thing though, with the Audio Portal generating about 0.003% of the total bandwith (I saw this in a link provided in the "Change the audio portal music thing), a revolution will not be coming. Newgrounds is a site dedicated for Flash movies, until I myself, or somebody makes something like NewSounds, it's gonna be the same.

i agree with B0unc3, but you are right! artists wanting to have atention should be seen. maybe their could be another trance or somehitng section. B0unc3s stuf is friggin sweet, and so is other people! but they get no credit becsue of the experts and stuff. haha i know i suck at music, and nobody knows me. but yea, there should be a expeirenced section where you need a platniun, advenced, with gold, and anonymous with under that, so everyone doesnt not get voted zero becasue of the super uber ppl.

Well, not that he would ever need it but I feel obliged to jump in on B0UNC3's defense.

I personally think that the mistake here is the assumption that there is some sort of gang or group that votes zero on everyone but B0UNC3's work and that's simply not the case.

It's not that B doesn't get zeroed - I'm quite sure that he does - but his music is very popular and he has built up a larger "fanbase" to the point where a zero just doesn't hurt him as much as it would someone like me who only gets maybe 7 or 8 votes total on any given track.

I know you're not blaming B but that's definitely the connotation - that it's somehow B's fault for being so well known and that's why everyone else's scores are lower by comparison.

My advice - if you want to get better scores than he, then make more popular music... if you can. Until then, just do your thing, submit your tracks - talk to people, find out what's popular and sell your soul to appease the masses.

i had a look on the trance section today to see where bounc3 was, at the time he was ranked number four, i listened to the stuff above him and it didn't deserve to be above him, i didn't vote or anything cos i couldn't be arsed, the tunes will find there space in the portal somehwere where they deserve to be, i don't even kno what im saying here, but ranks and shit mean absolutely nothing, i learnt that a couple of weeks ago, n ive only been here a month, but one thing im certain of , besides the little groups that supposedly are there, the shit will sink and the good stuff will float to the top, and no offence but i cant stand trance anyways, lol

The reason why Paradise on Earth is been dominating the Trance charts is because it is one of the best Trance songs on the Audio Portal. It seems the reason you don't like the voting regulations is because it has happened way too many times before.

The fact is, B0UNC3 has had alot of votings on PoE, and those votes regulate on how much strength one vote brings. Same with the down voters. If you combine those who have voted high, and those who have voted low, you create a very powerful song. Just think of how a tornado forms. Cold air pressure and hot air pressure together.

This also involves with a similar argument over Chaos Devotion. It's applied with the same regulations, so there is the backup of it happening before.

These and other songs will go down eventually, or another song will take its place. For now, we sit and wait....
