So? For example, Doctor Mario also had his own game. But, Mario and Luigi are more important in the series.

Yes, but did you ever see Wario getting more popular than Mario? For Nintendo, Wario is and will always be a joke character. He is fat, greedy and selfish, while Mario is nice and courageous. Wario IS pretty popular, but will always stay behind Mario.

Yea but still, there just games with not much of a plot, but with Sonic they all make shit about there characters cuz they try to make it all "serious" Mario knows they can't make a serious game out of a fucking plumber from italy who runs around a world saving princesses from evil gaint fire breathing turtles and apes.

BULLSHIT. Getting 180 emblems in SA2B was insanely difficult. Especially the Sonic levels. The extra level for a reward wasn't very interesting, but it was gratifying enough to have 180 emblems next to that 202 hours of gameplay on my save file. A good chunck of that was in the Chao garden, but you get the idea.

I haven't played Shadow yet, don't want to either. Sonic Riders looks fun, though. Sonic Rush for the DS was pretty cool. The special stage is frustrating though, they brought back the Sonic 2 pipeline, but you are forced to tap your stylus to move sonic. Plus you have to tap at the sky for him to jump, which is very difficult to time properly and execute. The final special stage is fucking impossible.

well then i stand corrected as the sonic games that I have played didnt seem all too hard, i remember the good days when chaos emeralds were a bastard to get, (sonic 3 if your curious) and now its seems so piss easy they may as well hand the things over...

What's killing the Sonic series? The constant desire to be 'hip' for a new audience. Sonic will NEVER be great again unless there's a game with just him, Tails and Knuckles playable, like old times.

Good new characters:

Shadow (although they overdo the emo shit)
Blaze (She's actually interesting)

It would be great if they remade the exact first sonic game, but with polished up graphics and maybe some extras(not extra characters all new ones suck I swear most new ones are actually gay) like mini-games or some cool facts and a pic gallery of sonic over the years.

Minus the polished up graphics, you get most of that in Sonic Mega Collection :P

From what I heard a while back they plan on releasing a new game in the series on the PS3 with the working title "Sonic the Hedgehog". I dunno if it's what you're aiming for for remade, but it's gonna be in 3D and had some very impressive graphics.

I guess maybe a few new characters are alright, and the 3d isn't bad they just try so hard to make this dramatic effect that it becomes well not fun. I have the shadow the hedghog game, I swear they just took a SAB2 and switched shadow up with sonic and added guns to use(which the gun system wasn't very good and driving vehicles was useless czuse you needed to jump most of the time) SEGA needs to go back to the roots(and keep the name SEGA) and hell what ever happened to the SEGA systems? Why did they dye out?(me Nintendo fan but I just curious).

The real reason why Sonic doesn't do well in 3-D: Sonic has no stereotype to model himself after. Look at Mario, as soon as he started talking it was "Meatball" this and "Mama mia" that, and people just ate it up.

With Sonic it's just "Hey, let's be a bit more extreme". Where's the stereotype in that?

Every character in the sonic series sucks, has always sucked, and will continue to suck as the years slowly pass by and our bodies wither and die, it's an undeniable fact. I dare you to find a game with more straight-from-the-eighties anthropomorphic animals with 'tude. They're not just bad in theory though, they're poorly designed, unappealing, and just plain ugly. What made the series a killer app in the 16-bit era was pure, unadulterated, untainted by a storyline, faster than greased lightning, blink and you'll miss it, swift kick to the yam-bag gameplay.

The newest games have been a pathetic attempt to meld bad, even by generic anime standards, storylines with lame repetitive gameplay and a mere sprinkling of the action that once rivaled the Mario series. All of a sudden those shitty characters we once ignored stick out like a sore thumb.

I 've been saying that myself, I like Shadow but he doesn't have to be in all Sonic games. Sonic is still an azzhole though.

Yes she is! One Sonic girl that even roughed up Knuckles once! XD Tough, responsible, non-stereotypical woman character.

Does anyone here miss the days of Sonic even before Knuckles was introduced? I do. Knuckles sucks.

The sonic series never was very good anyways. Yay a fuckin fast porcupine. The only sonic game I ever liked was Sonic 2 for my Game Gear.

I think they should have stopped after sonic 3 for the genesis.

Sonic adventure for dreamcast is the only 3D Sonic game I like. I've never played sonic rush, but blaze seems pretty kick-ass.

What ruined the sonic series? Well many people have said that 3d has, but I disagree. Sonic's first proper 3D game (sonic 3D doesn't count) for me was Sonic Adventure and it was ace when you got to play as Sonic and Sonic only. It was the other sleezy characters that clogged up the high speed goodness.

Sonic needs a new game of his own, with no addition characters slowing him down. NOW.
