Why haven't you got around to it? Don't you have a PS3 or XBOX?

So... What happened to Versus XIII?

I guess it's still in the making, but they're keeing it pretty quiet, cos all I can find of it is the same trailer that I saw over a year ago!

I plan to borrow the one my sister's fiance has eventually. EVENTUALLY!

The next Duke Nukem Forever, perhaps?

Hey guys, I`m back from my trip to the US, and brought with me a PS3 along with FF 13 and FF IV and V for the GBA.
I`ve still got a lot of stuff before I can start playing, but I have a question that needs to be answered ASAP: is it better to keep the controller plugged to the console at all times or to only charge it when necessary? This is so that the battery doesn`t get too old too quick.

The controller will typically last as long as a tv remote, so as long as you aren't on your console for more than 4 hours a day, the thing shouldn't go dead for at least a few weeks.

Whoa whoa whoa, are you serious? The thing doesn`t last for more than a month? And that`s if I don`t spend 4 hours a day playing?
But again, is there any difference between keeping the controller plugged into the console at all times and only plugging it when it`s battery is low?

I only charge mine when necessary. Maybe once every few weeks or so, when the PS3 tells me the battery is getting low. I dunno if it makes a difference in the long run, but I've had my PS for over a year now and the battery still lasts as long as new.

No, that's if you spend MORE than 4 hours a day playing. Which isn't that crazy seeing as most people with a normal life don't play more than 4-5 hours a day anyway. If you play 4-5 hours a day, the thing should last you a month before you have to buy new batteries. Which isn't that bad, considering how cheap batteries are.

You can also buy a charger, which should make the controller last longer. I don't actually own a ps3, but it shouldn't be any different than the 360 controllers when it comes to battery life.

Notice I said every "few" weeks? Few = 4 or more, which is a month basically. That's plenty of time, to beat any game you own.

So, for many reasons, I delayed XIII and started playing IV. To be honest, I'm sorta impressed at what Square could do even though that was 20 years ago. I also like the cavern and overworld music.
It doesn't seem too hard though.

BY THE WAY, does any of you know where I can get VI for a relatively low price for the GBA? eBay is pricey as shit (the top sellers, that is). And is it the same as the one for the PS1/SNES, sans the extra stuff every one of them on the GBA got?
It's the last one I need to complete my collection...

IV was actually pretty hard for me compared to the other FF games I've played

Especially that bastard Cagnazzo

Might be the DS version but I doubt their is a huge difference between versions of the game.

VI on the GBA is shit. It has a different translation (A disgrace to the awesome original) and fucked up music.

It's the last one I need to complete my collection...

Collection of every main FF title or every FF title in existence?

What do you mean by "fucked up music"? Anyway, do you think I should get the PS1 version instead?

Collection of every main FF title or every FF title in existence?

Main titles.

Also, in IV I went all the way where I get Yang and

SPOILER SPOILER

Baful is attacked. But when Yang speaks to the king again, his dialogue box goes all wacky and then none of the buttons worked anymore. So I reset the game, and what do I find out? That my last save was when I was about to fight the Octomammoth, thus losing 2 hours of my life. And to top it with a cherry, the cartridge simply decided to stay STUCK in the GBA. It took me a minute to take it out but it was like it was telling me to go fuck myself. I hate my life.

P.S.: Does anyone find the encounter rate in the caverns too high? I take a few steps and I'm in another battle.
P.S.S.: So, this is where "spoony bard" came from? Lmao.

American SNES (I think) and PS1 versions are the easy ones. I didn't find FFIV PS1 to be extremely hard but the DS remake... I still need to play through it.

Maybe so but I'd rather have that than a slow shitty port. I never even want to touch the PS1 port ever again after how much it made random battles a chore to me.

The GBA soundchip is very low quality compared to the SNES soundchip, and doesn't have as many channels, so they had to rearrange some tracks, and a lot of them sound like shit.

Anyway, do you think I should get the PS1 version instead?

That's even worse, because there is a 5-second load time with each random battle and when entering a new area.

So in other words, the only good one is the SNES? Then I'm screwed. But even so, I think I can deal with different translation and somewhat bastardized music. Now I just need to find one at a good price.

About IV, just defeated Cagnazzo and got the Star Tre- I mean, Enterprise. I also am kinda shocked at how

Shiiiit yeah, that looks good. I heard they were gonna change the name, cos it really has nothing to do with the original FFXIII. I think they should really - there's no connection what so ever. Only thing is, they've hyped it up with this name for the past 2 years so i'm not sure if they will.

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOILEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER

Wow. Twenty minutes, and two deaths. Like Kain said, everyone chooses death too quickly...I've seen action movies that had less main characters casualties than this. Soon enough the game's gonna end because of lack of characters, heh.
Also, I'm getting REALLY tired of the battle music, which I hear every five seconds because the ENCOUNTER RATE IS HIGH AS HELL.
By the way, I just finished the Tower of Babel and have to go back to Baron. Am I in the middle of the game? Or is there still plenty more to it?

So, for another set of reasons, I started XIII.
Obligatory zomfgthegraphicssointensebrolol post.
So far, I like where it seems to be going. The character desings seems to fit for each character for some reason, and I like the characters themselves so far. I also like some of the music, especially the battle music so far.
Though I think it's bullshit that if the leader gets knocked out it's game over, the battle system looks nice as well. Reminds me of XII.

Also, Vanille and Sazh's chocobo <3 <3 <3

Do NOT fucking listen to Blaze, the PS1 version is a fucking disgrace, Blaze is being all "THEY CHANGED IT NOW IT SUCKS!" Sorry, but a more accurate translation is not a bad thing, and while it changed the Woosley stuff, it's still a better translation on principle.

Things I'm disliking about XIII for now:
What the FUCK? Summons TRANSFORM? I've never even imagined that sort of shit. Also, the characters are complaining WAY, WAAAAAY too much, Lightning is being way more of an asshole than SQUALL, and Hope is a wussier clone of Tidus.
Aside from that, I'm enjoying it. The action is good, the job change thing mid-battle makes things real intense, and while the level-up system seems a little weaker than the Sphere Grid, it is MUCH faster, and I like that.

Also, I loved that bit in the Crystalized lake where Vanille posed when she said "Ciao!" and soon after that Sazh's chocobo did the same pose. That was fucking irresistable.

Uhh, he did say the PS1 port is even worse than the GBA re-release.

At 2/2/11 10:56 AM, portalwarpedJP wrote: What the FUCK? Summons TRANSFORM?

This to me is the dumbest thing that ever happened to Final Fantasy (even worse than the shit in X-2) and I've yet to play FFXIII. I have a friend who's a Transformers fanatic and he easily compared the transforming summons to the autobots he knew in Transformers. I still wonder what Square were thinking with this idea.

NOTE: I don't hate Transformers, I just feel making summons transformers-like is so out of place.

Ugh, I now regret not getting FFV and VI on GBA sooner. I knew they weren't going to be any cheaper but now they're going to £40-50 at least and it'll only get worse from here. I've already had to pay a lot for FFV and I'm now debating where to get FFVI from. Some are hard to trust considering they're very new sellers on eBay or have the price so high that I might get customs charges for it.

WHAT THE FUCK?! They put LYRICS on the CHOCOBO THEME, which is just a techno piece of crap? WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU SQUARE, THIS IS X-2 STANDARTS!
Other than that, I have a question:
How do you get more gil? My wallet's tight as hell and I'm afraid to sell components because I don't know what can make a good weapon in the future.

I never said to get the PS1 version. Ever.

Blaze is being all "THEY CHANGED IT NOW IT SUCKS!"

Change is only good when it IMPROVES the original. This doesn't. Not like it's Square's fault, since SNES doesn't translate to GBA very well anyway.

it's still a better translation on principle.

Doesn't make it any more enjoyable than the SNES version. I mean, fuck, look at RPGOne's retranslation for the SNES version. By principle, it's the best translation you'll find, but it's shit because it's literal to the point where it burns.

Edgar: He'd slit his momma's throat for a nickle. (SNES)
Edgar: He'd kill his best friend for the right price. (GBA)

Come on, which sounds cooler?

You know, for a place that's supposed to train l'Cie, the Fifth Ark has monsters that give really weak CP. I only hope there's a place that gives excellent CP in the future. Especially when new roles take a ridiculous amount of CP and the higher stat nodes of already gotten roles needs just as much to be activated.

P.S.: Bahamut, I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but you look horrible in this game.

Right now, I'm playing Final Fantasy XIII and im on the last set of bosses. Problem is I'm getting my ass handed to by Orphan's 1st form, you know the one with almost 7 million HP. Who else had problems with this guy
