I dunno, I liked Quistis. Even though her limit break was kinda useless.
Quina I could take or leave, but I liked him/her back when I was a child.

I too liked Quistis. But yeah, her limit was just as bad as Selphies - which was only good when you got aura in the early stages of the game.
Quina was just silly imo.

As a character Quistis is fine, but her battle animations are so slow. Or at least seem that way.
It's why Selphie is great: quick step - slap - done!

No. No it's not. It's a Final Fantasy. But Secret of Mana was an awesome game. Anyone else played it?

been killing Magic Pots for two hours, and i'm leveling a little slower than i thought. maybe it's because i mostly get a winged-eye ambush, but anyways: at what level should i fight the WEAPONS? i know Emerald's level 99 and Ruby's 80, but do i really have to be that leveled to beat them?
either way, i know i'm spamming the FUCK outta Knights of The Round of them.

Get EXP Plus materia!

If one of them is level 99 and the other two are at least level 80, that should be good enough. Well, that's if you've been stat raising with the sources (e.g. Power Source). The best way to get them is to morph monsters in the Gelnika.

now just where can i find this interesting-sounding materia?
i know i can get sources from morphing the Gelnika monsters, but i'll leave that for later.

I really don't see how no one has problems with breeding a gold chocobo.
I did everything perfectly so many times even doing the same thing my brother did when he got them, so many tries and yet I can never ever get a gold chocobo not even once on it...........
God hates me.

when you're going to breed a wonderful yellow chocobo withthe black chocobo, are you selecting the black one first? are you sure you've won enough races with them?

i've beaten Ruby AND finished the game. i was rather disappointed with the final boss and the mano-a-mano fight at the end. thought they were too weak, and i didn't even use summons.
i DID like the ending though, real cliffhanger and worthy.
about to start VIII now.

Of course the Final Boss was weak. You had trained up to fight Ruby and Emerald, the challenge bosses. The Final Boss was made for people who hadn't done that sort of training, i.e. almost everyone who played the game.

well this thread lost it's breath for a few days.
anyways, i'm on Disc 2 of VIII. to be honest, i couldn't beat Edea back when i was younger, but i did it easily this time.
and does anyone know why some of my characters draw less magic than others (Ex.: Squall draws 6 Hastes-average, Quistis draws 3-average)?
P.S.: why is Squall SO COOL? for some reason, everybody (myself included) likes him.

Wut?
Also, get all characters to lvl 100 and beat the last Jenova fight with Knights of the Round. Than the final boss is hard.

I think it's because he's probably the most masculine male character in the 3D games. Thank god it's not his original design (Which was put in Dissidia and made him completely gay).

and what's his original design like? y'know, that makes him gay?
also, i'm in FH, and i love how this place has some of the funniests moments i've seen on the game: the cat-loving middle-aged man that is quickly renamed "Psycho", the concert scenes.....
and i'm about to get Balamb Garden as the airship. help me god.

I don't know how anyone can like Squall, let a lone find him even the slightest big comparable in masculinity to the likes of Solid Snake, Cid Highwind, and a series of other characters who aren't 1 dimensional twats with the emotional dynamic of dry oatmeal.

"Initially, Squall was given longer hair and a more feminine appearance. However, Yoshinori Kitase felt that this design did not work, asking Nomura to shorten his hair and make him look more masculine. This lead to the final design of Squall seen in-game. Aspects of Nomura's first design, however, can be seen in his Kingdom Hearts appearances where his hair is shoulder length; and in Dissidia in relation to his clothing."

Picture below of what he looks like in Dissidia. Horrible, I know.

All I can say is, get rid of it as fast as possible. Any sidequests that require long trips with that piece of shit are not worth it and can wait until you get the Ragnarok, which is awesome because it has an auto-pilot function.

I wouldn't say Squall is masculine by any means. He'll always remind me of David Beckham during his intense metrosexual phrase. But in terms of character I'd say he's quite masculine. He starts off whiny as hell but he develops into a class leader. The invasion of Balamb is one of my favourite moments in a FF.
A couple of years ago VIII was considered one of the series' best, now it seems it one of the series' least favourites. Doesn't make sense to me, especially since the last few installments have only gone on to prove how much better the PS1 era was.

Back when it was more about Story then über graphics. Not saying that I didn't like the newer ones, but Story wise, XII or XIII, didn't do it as much for me as VII,VIII or IX.

I love the Ragnarok, my favourite airship by far, and its a space ship!
I don't mind Garden,I find Garden to be fun especially the Garden vs Garden event which is just plain epic. I love the full cut scene event in the background part especially when running through the battle field, only lasts a minute or so but its such an amazing gaming moment.
Oh also about blue magics, big guard in FF7 is just plain op, FF5 also has level 5 death being incredibly stupidly op able to kill not only huge numbers of enemies but also be used for excessive ability point grinding and can even kill about 10 or so bosses in 1 or 2 hits with the other hit being level double / half.

It still was, to some degree, about 'uber graphics' at the time. Final Fantasys were still praised for being extremely beautiful back then as well.

I actually liked the storyline of XIII mainly for the way Square managed to reinvent the way they told their stories.
A lot of people have complained about the JRPG tropes for years and XIII dared to be different and IMO I think they succeeded. I think the only fault of XIII was that it's story lent itself to linearity, which was a risky choice, and a few characters needed more meat to them.

yeah, VIII for example. it's FMVs are in the same level of quality as most PS2 graphics (excluding high-res ones, of course).

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
i've JUST reached the most EPIC moment in the game, where Squall is fighting the Paratrooper in the air, and when i save Rinoa and run to the left, the game froze. i tried again twice, and it still froze.
oh god, please don't tell me the disc isn't gonna work anymore.
