I found the FFVIII boss to be quite easy.

It doesn't matter what level you're on.

All you have to do is get squall on aura and keep using Renzokuken.

Or, if you're wanting to be a little more strategic, you can get rid of all of Rinoa's offensive magic except Meteor, put her on Angel Wing and haste, and have her do 50,000 every turn without you having to select anything yourself.

That's how I beat Omega weapon, though I had to use a couple of Holy Wars.

They didn't seem to be so bad in FFVII either. Then again, the only place I can remember seeing them on the game is in the Snowy mountains (forgot name of the place now, but whatever).

Nah, they were nothing in FFVII.

Other tough little bastards are the Tonberrys...little fucks.

Zell was cool. He was funny, that´s why he´s one of my favourite characters from the game.

When i was playing VIII first attack it did was bad breathe so it was an instand KO seeing as it put confuse on my party.

Well, it wasn´t a sure KO, because once you get hit physically it takes of Confuse, so you can survive sometimes.

From all the FFs that i got to the last boss (VIII not quite X, sin is a bitch and X-2) VIII was the hardest and X-2 was just pathetic, piss easy with lv. 50 characters and not full abilities.
However, if you need a challenge i recommend VIII but what is VII like?

FFVIII boss wasn´t really difficult in my opinion. I thought the idea of taking away all your abilities in the Ultimecia castle was pretty good, but it could be quite difficult if you weren´t leveled up a bit. But i like a challenge :)

At 5/30/08 05:46 PM, Kuro wrote: All you have to do is get squall on aura and keep using Renzokuken.

True, but it takes the fun out of it. If you´re lucky and get his lionheart final attack, you can finish it in no-time.

Never tried that.

Yes, yes, I know that, but the fact that I played FFX before FFVIII still stands.

Damn, yeah. Tonberrys were pretty nasty on VII. That Everyone's Grudge move can kill one ally instantly. :( Usually, I'm better off attacking and attacking until I kill one, even if it means to get hurt by that Everyone's Grudge move.

Didn't everyone think they were cute at first, harmless even.. You hit them, they moved closer, it continues then before you know two of your characters are dead and you hate the little fucker.

Oh sure, they were cute alright, with their little lantern and knife, but they were lethal little bastards.

The FFVIII Tonberry summon was quite humorous though with the little speak bubble - ´DOINK´.

Bloody hell, it was a pain in the ass to kill all those Tonberrys. I got him as soon as you could get to the bottom continent so i wasn´t really levelled up a great deal so those tonberrys were really tough >:(

Lol yeah that was it! Was it something like killing 20 in a role without leaving? something stupidly hard. I love that game, most replay someday, so underrated in my opinon.

Again, all you had to do was keep Squall on low health throughout, and then keep using Renzokuken.

He could kill them in two or so moves by the time I got up to the part of the game where you could get Odin.

Bloody limit breaks making the game so easy.

The FFVII way was better, you get limits when you get hit. That way you couldn´t just use them all the time, cos God knows everyone took advantage of the low health limit idea in FFVIII.

I just can't work out why, it was a lot different to VII yeah but in a good way really, it'd be boring if it was the same style. Much better then 9 too.

Yeah, i suppose change is good, not always the same kind of world, so i don´t know why people didn´t accept it like they did VII.

lol, it wasn´t hard once you got the hang of it. All you had to do was press R1 when the blue wave thing passes through the box.

I have that sneaky feeling that when I faced him *I* was unlucky and had two dead at the same time.

I think it helped VII that it was the first of it's kind of them PS1, of course there were other rpgs coming out but it was the first FF and it just changed how we played rpgs before that gen really. It was groundbreaking really.

I didn't accept it as much because I thought it was an inferior battle system to FFVII's.

I'm all for change, but only when the change is good.

It's just that FFVIII set itself out so that all you ever needed to do was attack and use limit breaks.

Magic was something you never really needed, except maybe for healing.

I liked all the other PS1/2 battle systems, though.

Yeah, FFVII was basically a ground mark in video game history. It set the level for every RPG. Barely any come close to it though.

Most of the time but if you start hunting for high level monsters which are on the closest island to hell (only had one kill there so far, <3 Odin) you have to use magic and GFs

Cactuars are awesome, but their extremely high evasion can be a pain at times. I can't remember the first time I saw a Cactuar. I think it was on FFVII, but eh, hard to recall now. They didn't have a big role on that game like they did on FFX.

Yeah, they´re quite hard to hit, but when you finally do get them, they die in one hit luckily.

I remember them in FFVII, they were very rare, but they gave you huge amounts of AP.

All you needed to do was give Squall first strike capability.

Since he had 255% hit rate, if he attacked a Cactaur, the Cactaur died.

The other characters are less successful until you get Selphie's ultimate weapon, which also gives her 255% hit rate.
