A gunshot rang out and the tech's gun went flying. It hit the floor, skidded a distance before coming to a stop against a wall. Joseph whipped his head around to see Nick standing there, holding a Glock 18, looking very pleased with himself.

"Hey, Joseph," Nick said calmly as he trained his gun on the now-terrified scientist, "Who's your friend?"

"Oh, just some random guy, pissed-off because I slept with his girlfriend a while back." Joseph said with the air of one asking about the hockey game score.

"That's great, now I suggest you both follow me the hell outta here before...." Nick trailed off as he saw that the tech had gone white and was pointing a shaky hand at Nick. No, behind him. "What?"

Nick turned around slowly to face the outside hallway, all the while praying it was Hurok.

It wasn't.

Some huge, freakish insect was standing there. It had a carapace like an insect, blades for forearms, was standing on four legs, and had a large mouth with an alarmingly large amount of teeth.

"Woah." Nick managed before he shot the thing point blank. He let out a cry that may have been "Shit!" when he saw the bullet flatten against the huge insect creature. He backpedalled, case a frantic look around, then slammed a fist into the lock button by the door. He only started breathing again after there was a layer of re-enforced steel between him and the monster.

Nick turned around to Joseph, "Listen, the master of the Zeds is dead. They won't be smart anymore, but that won't stop me from turning into one of them. A mindless flesh-eater. We need to get out of here in the next eight minutes, or else we're so much paste after this place blows sky-high. And don't worry about me, I still got about half an hour before the virus becomes irreversible."

Nick turned to the tech, but was talking to Joseph as well, "Is there anyway out of here, or a big enough gun to take out that thing outside the door? Because God help us if there's not."

". . . You shot me. . ." The tech muttered. "YOU FUCKING SHOT ME!? God, I manage to seal myself in here and avoid getting shot for all this time and you break in here and freaking shoot me!"

"chill out techie, It only grazed you" Nick replied, "now is there a way out of here or not?

"Why should I help you!" the Tech shot back.

"Because if you didn't know this place is going up in a matter of minuets, and I sure as hell don't want to go out there and play with Creepy Mister Bug, do you? Helping us is your only option!" Nick said sternly.

The Techie paused for a moment, and said, "There is no way out of here. . . but it just so happens that I snuck some incendiaries out of the armory the other day, I put them in that foot locker over there." The Tech gets up, holding his thigh where Nick had shot him, and stumbled over to the foot locker. He kneels down and begins to unlock it.

"Hey, you're not such a bad guy, what your name, techie?"

"Alabaster, Alabaster Cole, and I've been working here for way too long."

"Sorry about that girlfriend comment,"

"PFf, Don't worry about it. Chances are you porked her at one point in time, The whole Dallas Cowboys team did, why should you be an exception?" Cole said with a grin. Cole opens the foot locker and holds the incindiaries in his hand, "I think this is C4. . . I'm not sure though . . .
I saw Crawford setting these a couple weeks back, so I'm pretty sure I know how to use these."

"Not to put a damper on things, but who is going to put the C4 on the bug?" Nick said,"because I sure as hell aint' going to do it!"

"I was thinking we could blast another wall and skip out the another door." Cole replied.

"What do you think we should do, Joseph?" Nick asked.

"Sounds like a plan to me, Alabastor. Let's get moving." Joseph examined the devices closer. "Just as you thought, we have ourselves genuine C4. I'll set the charges. You two, guard the door." As Joseph ran to the far wall, Alabastor retrieved his pistol, and he and Nick pointed it at the steel door, which was rapidly denting.

"Damnit! Time operated. Detonators are so much better." swore Joseph as he attached it to the wall. He ran a couple feet down, and took cover behind a sturdy desk.

BOOM!

The wall crumbled. Joseph's ears rang from the explosion, and he saw Nick and Alabastor running to the now gaping hole in the wall. He saw Nick turn and say something, he couldn't hear what. He punched his battle-worn helmet, and heard clearly again. "....the hell outta here!" Nick finished.

He nodded, and followed them through the hole. He raised his radio. "Sergeant Polaski! Come in!" His response was swift. "Roger sir, what ya need?" The trio swiflty ran through the corridors. "Call off the assualt! Do not send marines into this building, it's gonna blow!"

"Don't worry about it. We sensed rising heat signatures from the building, and figured out already. We have the evidence, now haul ass, gather all your buddies, and get the hell outta there! We've set up checkpoints four miles from your position, you get there, this shit is all over."

"Copy that. Moving out." he shut off the radio. "We gotta find Zeke, Hurok and Duran before we blow this joint. This nightmares about to end."

((Kite,basicly everone is in the bio labs which is about to explode.Joseph and nick are escaping with alabastor,zeke has been pushed over the edge into madness,Hurok is confused walking the halls of the bio lab,Duran fainted but was dragged outside by wedge who is waiting with the rest of the squad.that basicly sums it up.))

zeke ran down the hall laughing hard with his knife in one hand and revolver in the other,He searched for something,but for what?.Tears ran down his cheeks,bodies of guards and scientists lay everywhere,the creatures still roamed the labs.It was a miracle the had not found zeke yet,he would find them instead.
As zeke turned ino a hallway,a creature that could have been mistaken for a human was biting into the neck of a guard.The creature had razor sharp teeth,bulging biceps and a very bloody bicep.Its eyes,burning red looked into zeke's blue eyes.A growl escaped its mouth,then it spoke.

The creature:Lss.Death to the Lss.

The creature dropped the body of its victim and ran at zeke who stood still,emotionless staring at the creature.It raised its weapon ready to cut zeke.Zeke still did not flinch.The creature brought its weapon down,just at the right time zeke grabbed his knife and through it at the creatures throat,a direct hit.The creature dropped its weapon which landed with a thud into the floor.The creature stepped back and fell on its knees.

The creature:zeke,Madness kills,your friends are next.

This caught zekes attention and shocked him,he drew out his revover and fired the whole clip into the monsters head.The creature lay still.Zeke grabbed the handle of the machete and pulled it out of the ground,he but at the side of his belt.

zeke:madness,how did you know?.How did you know me?.Why do you torment me?.

zeke left the body there and walked to find the squad,there was no laughter now,no noise at all.only silence.zeke would stat silent for a long time,if not forever.

((I had a heart-attack earlier this week. It's because I have aortic stenosis. I can't use my left arm, so if there is a spelling mistake don't blame me. Also, it's a short one.))

Hurok walked down the hall. He was streaming ichor from every wound or opening in his body. From the hole in his chest, the one in his head, the one in his throat, his mouth, and every gunshot he had in his body. It painted his path as he walked.

Hurok got out of the building, and walked up to the veichle he got here in. He leant against it, zoned out of the situation at hand. The ichor was dripping off of him, pooling under his feet. Hurok heaved in for breath, and vomited more of the ichor.

Someone came up and patted Hurok on the back. "You alright?" It was Duran. Hurok looked at him, and said "I 'retty 'ucked."

((idk if it's already happened, and sry if it has. but can somebody please PM me when somebody has posted a story about getting the scientists out. or whenever the scientists are out, just PM me please. i would like to start on my stories but that's the only good starting place.))

Nick led the trio as they thundered down the hall towards the exit, the big red signs helping matters imensely. It was a miracle they hadn't run into any more creatures. Joseph was helping Cole whose thigh was still bleeding slightly. Nick was so high on aderinaline that he didn't feel any pain.

Noises up ahead alerted the LSS and a shadow up ahead resolved into Zeke. Nick skidded to a stop.

"Zeke! Oh man, am I glad we found you! The buildings gonna blow in about 3 minutes, we need to leave!"

Zeke turned haunted eyes towards Nick, and Nick could clearly see madness inside of them. Zeke began to raise a revolver towards Nick and Nick wasted no time in bouncing Zeke's head of the wall.

Joseph shouted, "What the fuck'd you do THAT for?!"

"He was going to shoot me, let's just vacate ASAP." Nick replied, hoisting Zeke in a fireman's carry.

Right....left....straight....2 mintues, the corridor seemed to go on forever before they finally saw the main entrance up ahead. They all put on a final burst of speed....

Then they were out, gasping for breath, stopping at a car where Duran and Hurok were.

Nick jerked his chin at Duran, "Help Hurok, we need to put some serious distance between us and this building right the fuck now."

Duran nodded and helped Hurok up, 1 minute.

The six of them hurried as fast as they could from the building as their various injuries would allow. 45 seconds.

They saw an 18-wheeler and made for it. 30 seconds.

They got on the opposite side of the trailer part from the explosion. 15 seconds.

The three who were carrying someone put down their burdens. 10 seconds.

All went prone. 5 seconds.

Nick poked his head around the corner, he wanted to see this.

KA-BLAM

The lab detonated in a fiery explosion that reached for the heavens. Chucks of the building got thrown in every direction. Every window on the street shattered from the blast. The group was thrown slightly backwards from the shockwave.

Then, it was all over, and all six got up. Circling the trailer, they took in the image of the burning building. Nick looked to his right to see a figure standing there, all in black. He sneezed from the smoke fumes, then the figure was gone.

As one, they all looked up in the east. The sun was rising. It was a brand-new day.

Just as Joseph was breathing a sigh of relief, seven Bradley fighting vehicles drove in, along with four Black Hawks in the sky. Three Abrams showed up, and with a burst of gratitude, Joseph noticed the marines they had fought alongside were riding on one of the tanks, the same one they had earlier. They had tagged it, "Zed Killer" on the side, and most of the battle damage was still fresh.

All of the troop transports unloaded, and Marines swept the area. Sergeant Polaski and Ace made their way to the LSS. "And so the cavalry has arrived, sir!" exclaimed Polaski. " Told you backup is on the way. Listen, you guys have been through hell, you deserve off this hellhole. The rest of the Op is mop-up, so you won't be missing anything."

He pointed to a Black Hawk. "This copter will take you to the navy waiting off the island. We'll take good care of you there. Plus, HQ can use your help. It's not over yet." He stuck out his hand. The LSS, including Alabastor, shook it. "It's been mighty fine workin' with you folks. I gotta get movin'!" And he moved on, lost in the tide of Marines.

Ace said, "It's time for me to roll too. The higher-ups gave me and my squad commisions. That's Captain Ace to you now." He saluted, and ran off after Polaski. All around, Marines were finishing off the few monsters that escaped, and capturing escaped guards and techies. They were all too willing to surrender.

The LSS, (plus Alabastor) slowly walked towards the Black Hawk. Joseph scavenged through Zeke's pockets, and found one more syringe of anti-virus. "Nick." he said.

"Yeah?"

He plunged the syringe in his neck without warning, and injected the anti-virus. "OW! What the fuck?" Joseph smirked. "That's for our little fight earlier. I think you broke a couple of my fucking ribs."

"Oh ha ha. I'll get you back for that. Not today, not tomorrow, but eventually."

They all climbed aboard(some half-carried, some plain out carried) The Crew Chief signalled to the pilot, and they lifted off. Exhausted, Joseph was lulled to sleep by the hypnotic beat of the rotor...

As zeke lay in the chopper,a past story was remembered.His father had fought in vietnam.He had told zeke all about,The fighting in the jungle,the traps and ambushes.The massacre.Zekes father had told zeke he would be a soldier,a medic just as he was.Its amazing how it was true.

The images of the battles described to him seemed as if he was there fighting alongside his father and friends.The massacre was seen in his eyes,he was scared.

suddenly zeke awoke in the chopper,his head hurting like hell,from nick.He was breathing heavily from the nightmare.The squad stared at him as he looked around,he cried.

nick:well well,sleeping beauty's awake.Hope you had a nice sleep.

zeke just stared at nick and quickly rose to his feet.He walked over and reached down,he reached down to nicks holster and grabbed his revolver.Zeke then put it into his holster.
Zeke lay dow near the door looking out,crying as they made there way for the ships.

Nick:whats wrong with him?

Joseph:he has been affected from the battle,more than any of us.And he's only a kid.

Nick:well thats no excuse for trying to shoot me.

jospeh:just leave him alone.His nerves are in tatters already.

zeke grabbed his dog tags from around his neck as well as his yin yang necklace,he held them out of the door.He though to himself and let the dog tags go to fall below."For the past".Then he let go of his necklace,"for the future and the terror it holds".The trip became silent for the rest of the journey,not a word was said to anyone.

((seeing as all is quiet i will add some more.))

Once the squad,only a handful of survivors and veterans now arrived, on the carrier the group piled off and were debriefed by joseph.

Joseph:We have defeated the zeds,hopefully once and for all.We can now get on with our former lives,and our shread of memories.But dont forget,once an lss always an lss.Get some rest we are heading for new york soon,so get comfy.

The squad were shown what would be their quarters for the time being,small rooms but better than sleeping on the cold floor they had done for the past months.Each member of the squad thought of the past,the memories,the lives that would never be brought back.Each member was now scarred,not just physically either.In their own way each member would not recover.

What would they all do with their lives now,all they were good at was fighting,and fighting was all they wanted.No member knew their future,but the lss would be needed again.

((I have NO idea about what we're going to do next, except for what that one "Mystery Guy" I posted about is going to do. Other than that....I'm at a loss.

these are all questions that need to be answered.couple of ideas.

Set five years later.
squad gone seperate ways and gotten on with their lives.
virus breaks out in Europe,every living member of lss is contacted
An old friend is leading the zed attack.Christian maybe.
Everyone the members of the squad knew that have fallen in combat is a zed.(family,friends,soldiers.fiancees,old enemies.lord deadlock,johensen)

Set straight after they return to nyc.
Virus had already broken out,nyc has been barricaded off.
lss are the only humans there along with the crew of the carrier
new enemy rises to take up the position
Many monthes of bloodshed and death

any other ideas?))

Nick sat inside his cabin crying quietly over a picture he held in his hand. It was of him and his fiancee, about a month before Joseph had called him, the virus broke out again, and she was killed.

Nick stood up, took one last look at the picture, then set fire to it and threw it in the sink. Time to stop living in the past.

He left his cabin and wandered throughout the ship, eventually making his way to the bridge. Joseph was there, along with most of the rest of the LSS, and marine and other soldiers who had tagged along, and were yet to re-join with their proper unit.

Joseph looked up, "Hey."

"Hey." Nick leaned against the window and stared out it absent-mindedly. "What are we gonna do with our lives now?"

Joseph came up beside him, "Well, NYC has been cleaned up while we were away, but there's still a ton of Bio-Tech activity world-wide. The LSS is spliting up to take care of them all. But what you do ultimately is up to you. Maybe you should just go home, see your family, forget about fighting for a while."

Nick shook his head and looked up at Joseph, steel in his hazel eyes, "I've lost all my family, the only family I have left is on this ship." Nick straightened up, "You said that we're all splitting up, right?"

"Yeah."

"Need a partner?" Nick asked with a half-smile, "Because God knows if you don't have someone else around, you'll get your ass buried again."

And with that, the ship sailed on, all the LSS members making their own plans, their own futures.

We should skip ahead about a year or so, to start, and all should fill out a new form:

I think splitting up will be good, because then you don't have to worry about 10 different people in one location, and then forgetting about someone.

If you want, you can be my partner in Kiev, Ukraine. Hurok will be there with me, as well. Do some research on my character and Hurok(slapdamonkeyaz's) character if you wish.
