(Well I thought that Blue-Dragon was going to post after Serf so that is why I haven't posted one.))
((Mea culpa. I've been busy busting my ass in school and in my finances, as I'm attending university before too long, and I need good grades, and an assload of money.))
Nick averted his eyes politely, but was trying very hard not to snicker. He pulled off his backpack and tossed it to the stranger.
"Here. There should be some clothes in there. Bit worn, but better than running around in your birthday suit.
The stranger pulled out a spare set of clothes, T-shirt, jeans, underwear, socks and boots and ducked around a corner to get changed. Joseph kept pressing for information.
"You still haven't told me what your name is."
"It's Wingflower Tulryson. But everyone calls me Wedge."
"Okay, Wedge. But why exactly were you were butt naked."
Nick smirked and walked back to the tank. He really didn't care why Wedge was mooning the city. Stranger stuff had happened. He climbed on top of the tank to get a better view of the armory, only about three-quarters of a click from their location. He raised high-powered binoculars to his eyes to get a better view.
What he saw made his jaw drop.
Johenson's mercs were there, naturally. But the Zeds that had been under their control were waging an all-out war on the mercs. The mercs had the advantage of a defensive position, and superior firepower.
But the Zeds were far more numerous. Nick could see at least one 10-footer that had been so hard to kill back in Deadlock. And at least a dozen Zeds had guns. They were getting better at shooting too, as Nick saw a merc go down with a few bullet wounds to the torso.
This was bad.
Nick wondered if the mercs would turn to their side if they helped kill of the Zeds. He assumed they might, as word of Johenson's transmutation had likely spread through-out their ranks. Whatever the case, Nick wasn't going to go after them without at least telling Joseph. They had already lost two LSS members during this endless night.
"Joseph! There's something you might wanna see!" Nick called, waving the binoculars.
Joseph walked over, took the binoculars and scanned the area Nick was pointing at. He took it all in, then lowered them, tight-lipped. Nick quickly ran his idea of taking out the Zeds in the hope of the mercs turning to their side.
The others, including Wedge, came over to see what was up, all had a look, and all didn't like what they saw.
"Well, Joseph, I don't know. If we help the mercs, they might become our allies, and we need all the help we can get. Especially to get that weapon."
"About the weapon." Christian spoke up, "I just remembered something. The prototype is some kind of stationary weapons platform. In its finished state, it was supposed to either be a mobile weapons platform, or easily modified to fit on a tank. And it was rumoured to be more powerful than the Tiger tank, and the Abrams tank combined."
Nick turned to Joseph, "Case in point, we need that weapon. But if the mercs turn on us right after we kill off the Zeds...we might not make it. They are at an armory after all, I wouldn't be surprised if there were some Stingers in there, complete with either HEAT, or APFSDS rounds. So we could wait here until one army has won, and then ambush them. Personally I'm for option one; let's help the mercs."
Joseph nodded, "Okay, I see the logic in those options," he turned to the rest of the group, including the tankers and all other troops riding with them, "Chinese Parliament time guys. Who likes one, who likes two, and who has another idea?"
