Some dece ideas.

Alright, Swordstick I respect you and agree with most of what you said, in fact back in Vanalice I used many of the ideas myself, I had my character, a plot he had to go through, characters he needed to meet etc, but I left it open to change, I incorporated others ideas and creativity to allow something to happen we wouldn't expect, and to kep things fresh for everyone, even me. So It can work a little looser than what your suggesting, so maybe we take what your saying, tone it down a notch, but down some set in stone rules and then bada-bing bada-boom we got an RPG.

((5. But I honestly don't quite grasp this concept. It's like the aftermath of a nuclear war, I'm assuming? Trying to re-build civilization? Kinda like Fallout? Also sorta like my idea of a space colony, only it's on a ruined Earth? Have I asked too many fucking questions yet?!

So, lemme know if I summed it up accurately (sp?)

Glad you liked my space idea, Slap. However, I think Misu's idea just pwned mine really, REALLY hard. And I'm glad you agree to keep the old thread. We have GOT to find a better way of weeding out the idiots though. You do an awesome job at it, but I think we need to set out in the rules an IQ score above 0.45 is required to even think about posting here.

PS: I finally bought a goddamn graphics tablet and halfway decent mic, so I can finish my Flash project. It's about halfway done. Screenshot is below. Feedback is appreciated, preferably by PM to avoid cluttering the thread up.

((Heres what I think we should do. While I don't believe I should judge their writing abilities, it'd save us future trouble if we actually did this. Because as we can see some people are the shit (chicky) and some people are just shit (no names that I'm going to list.). Some people tend to come in here, get the pass of approval, and fuck everything up almost instantaneously. That needs to stop happening, it isn't helping. We should give out like temporary passes to post in here kind of things. Like "Post some, and we will take it from there." kind of stuff. If it doesn't go so smooth we ask them politely to stop.

Now, that plan has a downside I can see immediately. If we ask someone to stop posting and they decide not to, we have to pull a mod into the ordeal. And I. . I just don't like dealing with mods all to much. I've done it before after someone refuses to listen to me. They get banned for three days and I get hate PMs out the a-hole and by the time I block them I already have like two pages of him being pissed.

If anyone has any ideas how to weed out idiots/assholes then throw your idea into the pool. If you like my idea, go ahead and tell me. ))

My actual idea was more of a fallout based idea much like the upcoming game but what everyone has suggested doesn't sound that bad to me either.I've never actually written anything to do wiyth swords or maces spare bows.
i liked your idea blue,i don't see the problem with fusing the two ideas together. The last human colony on Earth, scavanging for scraps. All are willing to stab their neighbour in the back if it mena'y survival apart from a few.
I just had another great idea, what if there was some type of make shift law Judge Dredd style?.The colony would notnuust have to deal with the many problems outside the colony walls but the law inside it as well.Yrah thats another idea,i still prefer my post nuclear idea though.

Well I'm thinking if we are going to do this, we do it all in or none at all. That means pre-apocalypse war coverage, transition and then finally when there are a few guns but mostly the old ways left, like settlements who have a former gunsmith might have access to primitive firearms or scavengers might have access to the damaged goods. No guns or explosives or vehicles at all would be no fun, we just need to provide a proper explanation.

((Well, since people like both my idea and Misu's idea, maybe we could fuse them together.

Perhaps the Earth has been ravaged by aliens. They could still be here, or not, it's good either way. If they are here, they've erected an opressive dictatorship, which is suffocating every remaining human on Earth. If they aren't here, then the Earth is left in ruins, with nothing but pockets of survivors trying to re-build the planet.

Slap, I completely agree with your idea of a trial run for newbies. As much as I too hate to drag the mods in, we need to weed out teh stoopids. From what I've seen, only one guy has stuck around after being told to fuck off. We all know of that asshole.

What if we give them a trial, and they fail, we just say "Sorry, you aren't quite up to snuff yet. Lurk some more, post some more, and get a feel for the forums. After a few weeks or so, c'mon back and we'll see."

If they accept this as rational human beings, then we can let them join.

If not, we holler for the banhammer. And then laugh.

We'll also need to reserve the right to tell someone to fuck off at any time though. As some crafty prick might post beautifully for his trial run, then just fuck it all up.

However, the trial run may instill a sense of good writing style into the new person. Hell, after 110 pages on this thread, I've stopped being such a mouthy prick. Er...mostly anyways.

Perhaps we'll give them like 10-15 posts. After that's done, we have a look-see, and then decide. We also need to enforce a posting minimum. Perhaps around 100 total or so.

I hate to sound like a major league douchebag here, but one more case of a jackwad who won't leave, keeps spamming with bullshit, and refuses to obey the dictate of common-goddamn-sense....I'm going to hunt them down, kill them, dissect them, then post a picture of separate part on a separate forum. I'm not fucking kidding.

I've got a better idea. Let's leave the question of whether or not they're here unanswered. This way, The eminent threat of distruction (possibly genocide of the human race?) will always be tugging at our characters. It'll be amazing and really fun to right about. hell, my hearts skipping a beat just thinking about it!!!!

It'd be interesting to see if something like that would ever happen?? Maybe the veteranship is the requirment for not eva worrrying about being banned because it takes so long to become a veteran anyway?

How would this be decided? who gets say? Veterans? everyone who is in? Is this a democracy? oligarchy? Dictatorship? (who's the dictator then?)

agreed, and at the same time disagreed. I agree with you, we need to go in, pre-apocolpse war coverage and transition, and all the way to the last sentence. I think that humanity nowadays relies too much on guns. How much fun would it be to write about arrows, screeching through teh air, burying themselves into someones skull with blood and guts flying. Trust me, roleplaying with old-style weapons would be just as fun. But the problem with the gunsmith thing is that Gunpowder would be impossible to come by, where and how would it be produced? Other than that, if you can somehow explain that, I agree that civil-war esque weaponry should be fine.

Well in all due respect Swordstick give me a little more credit. I love the idea of swords and flails and halberds, great cavalry charges and the like, but if their living in a collapsed civilization (that could collapse in more than a few ways) then modern era equipment is bound to be found somewhere and theres bound to be someone somewhere who can make it work, I think a ratio of the two could make for a very unique and outstanding rp. If say we have a Stephen King's "The Stand" type scenario where a genetically built super-flu kills off the planet then no guns would be damaged, or maybe we have a climate shift, mass heatstroke in Russia and frigid weather in the jungles screw up ecosystems and causes starvation. Nothing is set in stone, anything can happen, if there are aliens running around, people rebuilding around a dead civilization filled with all sorts of dangerous weapons, and god knows what else this may very well be the most open, random and awesome rp yet to come.

I think an alien rp would be awsome with everyone trying to hide and survive infact me and a friend on steam rp'd alien style through steam chat it was awsome, also Judge Dread was a movie about the world in the future in total chaos there was canables and other strange people just living next door to anybody the whole world was about to collapse!

alright I think we've been discussing this enough, whats the general consensus? Aliens? Post Apocalypse? Etc? Place your FINAL vote in one of the prior categories throughout the pages before and then finally we can get to some real rping, and not just talking about rping.

Yeah,Slap explained everything Kerma. The last guy really pissed me off.He did alright the first few times and then started going on saying i had to do this and that, thankfully with the help of Blue,Slap,Target and the other vets he was banned,so in the end he lost and we won.

I vote for the trial membership thing, just to say.

Judge Dredd was originally a cartoon in the British magazine 200AD.It was ert after a great nuclear war where the human population lived in giant cities scattered across the planet. The judges were special law enforcers who could catch you like police, try you like a judge and kill you like an executioner. The film was inspired from this. It's very good.

((Okay, just to avoid any confusion, here's the choices (I assume):

1.) Post-Apocalypse. Nukes were launched, people were killed, civilization got fucked. We RP as people trying to just live through the day.

2.) Aliens. We play colonists trying to settle a new planet. In addition to the hardships of actually creating a colony, we find aliens. Oh shi-

3.) Combination. Aliens came, and broke our planet. They are now gone.....we assume. There are still relics of them, and possibly they are still around, but we don't know. Dun dun dun....

Now I want you folks to PM me your votes. I'm dead serious about this. I don't want to wade through the thread looking for people's votes.

I repeat: DO NOT POST YOUR VOTES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PM ME, OR ANOTHER VET SO THEY CAN PM ME THE VOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PM = GOOD

POST = BAD

PM! PMPMPM!!!!

I'll be updating the vote count every day or so. I've cast mine already so..

Choice 1: 0 votes.

Choice 2: 0 votes.

Choice 3: 1 vote.

NOTE: EVEN IF YOU'VE ALREADY STATED YOUR VOTE, PM ME YOUR VOTE. I REPEAT, PM ME YOUR FUCKING VOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!

I know you think I'm overreacting, but I'm not leaving a damn thing to chance.

And now for something completely different.....

Glad you guys approve of my Flash project, and brand new tablet of awesome goodness.

And the annoying prick? I was referring to "reviewerpikmin".

*shudders*

Folks, there's assholes, and then there's prize assholes. Why we didn't call for a mod strike is honestly beyond me.

I know that me and the rest of the vets have seniority on the thread. That counts for a fair bit I think. Since some of us have been posting since the page number was in single digits, I think that people should respect that. But nope, this guy must've spammed like 50 bullshit posts before he screwed off. He actually tricked another poster into believing that he was the victim. Said poster flammed Target, Misu, and myself. He stuck around until the end of the Deadlock City chapter, fucked up the ending, then pissed off. Ugh...

As for that trial post thingy....still working on it. I should have the specifics hammered down within the next day or so. I'll draw an illustration to show it off. Because, y'know, new tablet and all.

No, I'm not going to shut up about this for a little while. It's honestly improved my life THAT much.

And that's the end of that weird-ass tangent....

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA 'Gasp' HAHAHAHAHAHA I just read some of the attempted profiles back in the pages 55-80 and I swear now I know why you hate swords so much, not to mention gunblades, GOW chainsaw rifles, plasma swords and every other impractical thing anybody has ever come up with in the past, not to mention the bios, summoning? God you guys got some shit newbies back then, I have a newfound respect for all of you who were present then, and to reiterate, HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

The pen is mightier than the sword, assuming there isn't a sword nearby.

Ah yes, happy Pico-Day everyone.

Well I was also going back to page 55 to look at some of the retards Chickidy was speaking of, and noticed something Blue' had said way back then. We should look at the applicants former posts (not all of them obviously) to check their "credit" so to speak. We have a similar system in the NGMafia.

I think it would work. If someone isn't up to snuff and we tell them to bugger off, and they don't we just drop the Mod-Hamma and give 'em a shiny ban present.

The question is who wants to do it, I would, and will, but if someone else wants the job (preferably a Vet' whos' been here longer than me.) then go ahead.

yeah, I agree. The whole "well, this guy is good, but this guy ain't. Oh shit now he's spamming us, someone go get the mods!" should be the responsibility of the veterans.

Sorry guys, but you guys are the leaders. Checking out posts in other subjects is a good idea, I'm down with that, but there should still be that trial thingie, and "we reserve the right to kick you at any time" status.

I also would like a sort of middle class to be set up, because, frankly, I know that I'm nowhere near veteran material (yet!) but I don't want to be lumped in with the (for lack of a better phrase) newbs because I'm not vet yet. I mean, what about those of us who where here before this new rp, and don't want to have "we reserve the right to kick you at any time" held against us?

I mean, obviously you won't kick us, (right?)
You like me, right? T__T

but the difference still matters. I know that you (referring to blue dragon, slaps, misu and the rest of teh vets here) are better than i am, because of your longetivity, but it doesn't change the fact that I am most definately a better 'rper than cutechick563il34. -- (insert whatever name you like there)

((Ayup, Happy Pico Day to everyone.

Tom Fulp, if by some cosmic chance you happen to be reading this... you fucking rock!

Jak, the job's yours my man. I have no patience for something like that, Slap's already busy, and hell, it was your idea in the first place.

So. The votes. I'm closing the polls as of right....now.

I think you'll see why in a second.

Option 1: 3 votes.

Option 2: 0 votes.

Option 3: 9 votes.

By a landslide, we are doing the alien dystopia future.

We'll set it in the year....let's say 2012. That's when alot of people claim the world is gonna end, so why not?

Also, and I really hate to do this, since Target has been gone for quite a while...I think we need to elect a new leader. We should head into the new chapter with someone we all know will lead us well. Last time, I just appointed Target. This was back when there was only three vets, and he had a country mile on both me and Misu. So. Nominate someone, and let's get a choosing.

Note: If Target comes back, he's leader again. Period. That guy is one hell of a badass leader.

And I've finally worked out the specifics for the trial thing. Please see the accompying illustration. Hope this clears everything up.

Yes, those are the guys from Zero Punctuation. No, I'm not creative.
