ml
to take a look at it) but the problem is.....i dont know any software in which i can record in. I tried Yamaha's free software but it didnt work! if you have any free software that you know i can record in with my new keyboard, i'll be obliged if you put the website name and directions in this post.

thank you!

free eh? I don't know if finale notepad can handle keyboards...

well you bought a $1,500 keyboard, I would highly suggest buying Fruity Studio's (which I KNOW for a fact that can handle keyboards), for around $750 (with everything + savings).

I'm sure Reason, Cubase, and many other programs can handle keyboards. And I also believe your keyboard might have come with a CD that has its Driver built into it, so the computer and the keyboard can talk to each other ^^.

I personally am not impressed with the Yamaha higher-end MOTIF series and S series. I am more of a korg person myself.

After having an S03 and playing on an M06 for a bit, I thought it was a great keybaord. Then I played on a Triton... damn.

Congrats on getting a nice controller though, Yamahas make great controllers!

Are you thinking about using the keyboard mainly to produce all your sounds in the music?

Reason 3.0 is a set of softsynths, samplers and sequencer. Very powerful stuff, but you need to know quite a bit about music to get into it.

hmm, well the demo version of FL won't let you save your file (not sure if you can record it).

But on a serious level, I don't think there are many, if any free softwares that will let you record using your keyboard, and as I stated earlier, some keyboards need drivers installed to use, so before any of that, make sure you have that set up.

Accquire a copy of Logic or Cubase. I think MicroLogic is free.

Start buying Computer Music magazine, they always have a ton of free software, plus they always have a copy of their own sequencer, Computer Muzys, bundled with the mag.

Using Reason or Fruityloops with that keybord will be utterly pointless if that keyboard is to be your main source of sounds.

I agree. You'll want a regular sequencer, like cubase, logic, sonar or something like that.
