The European Union released a statement saying that it would impose penalties on individuals responsible for the violation of international electoral standards, including Mr. Lukashenko. The sanctions will mostly be travel restrictions, but could lead to the freezing of individual's assets, the statement said.
The United States is considering parallel steps, the White House spokesman said.
Hot DAMN! The EU ain't messin around, they're gettin sanctions on before the US, and you KNOW we love our sanctions........
Now I dunno whether he's guilty of election fraud or not, general consensus seems to say yes. But the people certainly don't like this man in office, thas fer sur........
Any opinions? Next steps by the EU and US? A regime change in order?

Does sound like a sticky situation they have on thier hands. What i'd do is send that guy a subtle message along the lines of "You ARE going to have another election and it WONT be rigged, if it is the next time, we're coming for you and were really gonna fuck you up" and see what the result is. It's direct and to the point.

Seems to be what the EU has done. "Fine, you don't want another election. We'll just take your HOUSE! Go ahead, be the President from your BOX......."
Kind of ironic that the EU is gonna issue sanctions before the US, guess they just REALLY pissed at this, and ain't screwing around.....
Yay EU, way to step up and be aggressive (for once).

The only reason were not being aggresive to the rest of the world most of the time is because were too busy bitching and whining at each other, which is ok in my books so long as its directed and france.

A regime change in order?
Definitely. We need to weed out all non-democratic regimes in the world which are oppressing their citizens. If they do not give in to the sanctions, military force is in order.

A regime change is in order, but not through military means. If Lukashenko won't listen to protests then maybe he'll listen if we mess with his money. If he knows what's good for his country he'll step down. The only problem is that Belarus is still somewhat in Russia's sphere of influence and we don't want to piss them off too much as we rely on Russian gas to some extent. But something needs to be done. It's preposterous that there's still an authoritarian dictatorship on the borders of the EU in this day and age.

Its the last dictatorship in europe. Once its gone, europe will be dicatorship free. Then that just leaves africa (oh boy), asia (myanmar, china, laos, vietnam, etc), south america (I think theres still a few down there), north america (I think theres still one or 2 in central america, and the carribean), and australia (indonesia occupies half of papua, which is considered part of the australian continent).
