hello peeps, im just raising a lil issue here that may or may not have happened to other people when they've submitted a song.

Basically whenever i get to the top of my page on the ap, with a high vote or summat, someone comes along and gives it a really shitty rating hence you drop about 80 places into ap oblivion, i never get a review either just this shitty vote, it's happened a couple of times now, i'm not saying that my music deserves to be top and everyone has individual tastes it just seems to happen everytime my songs are top. maybe it's just me i don't know. anyways has this lil phenonemon happened to anyone else? i'd like to know.

maybe me songs r shit, maybe they deserve a low ranking, maybe they don't anywaysay contribution to this lil rant wud be welcome. come share your grievences.

As for the scoring issues - You'll find that in most cases, the zero is the only weapon that some people have, as they are lacking in anything that might resemble wit.

The best thing to do is to disarm them by not giving a damn about your scores.

Don't let it get it you down. I know it sucks but that's really the only advice that I can offer.

Pretty much everyone who has submitted to the Audio Portal. I've lost count of the number of threads I've seen complaining about it. It's got to the stage where I just lock them on sight.

Take some solace from the fact that many of the Flash authors looking for tracks will use the search function, so it doesn't matter whether your audio is on page 1 or page 21 in that respect. However, yes, it is frustrating, it wound me up like hell the first few times it happened to my audio, but I got to the stage pretty quickly where I ceased to give a shit about the scores. There are trolls on the AP who vote 0 on anything which gets a good score, it's just one of those things.

It happens to every artist. If it will make you feel better, i'll drop a few reviews, and vote on your songs.

Reviews are really what matters. In an ideal world, scores would be set only by the review scores instead of having two seporate voting system, but that will probably never happen as it will mean there will be far less votes on anything.

That's generally good advice, and yea, I honestly don't think anyone gives a crap about their scores/ratings. I know I don't, the only reason I want them high is so that people see my songs on the charts which gives my audio page advertisement, the ratings themselves are a terrible medium to judge a song by though, since they are so skewed by 0 votes... so everyone knows better than to care, it's all about the download amount and reviews on the song.

One zero can take you from a 5 to a 2.5 and no one will ever hear your track again -_- that's why it's harsh, not because of the 2.5 rating, but because your song is on page 200 somewhere on the charts where no one will ever see it. So I don't care if all my songs ratings are below 1, as long as they are on the top 50 somewhere then it's all good :D At least they'd still be getting some downloads and reviews here and there.

thanks everyone, sum really sound advice from you all, i've only been a member for a week so im stil getting used to how things go on here, so from now on i cudnt give a toss about the scores, but still it peck's head don't it. I mean it's not so much the vote either it's the fact no-one hardly leaves feedback if they vote so u don't really get an inkling as to how to improve your tunes. You are all welcome to have a listen and review and vote em, it's just the bad apples that ruin it for the rest of us. and i'll do the same for all of you's. and i do agree about the voting system shud be linked to reviews, rather than two seperate sections, it'll make things a helluva lot simpler. Hey man.
Now that you know how things are, heres a piece of advice to get reviews; Write many reviews yourself, there are many artists who return the favour. A couple of reviews/artist will make your name remembered by the artist, and strengthening the chanses of you getting review by him/her. Many times its about getting your name reckognized, try to be active in the forum, after a while you´ll find out that the regulars here are really a nice and cosy bunch of dudes, and allmost everyone of the regs are musicians themselves. Of course getting your songs in popular flash is a key to reckognition, but there i have no advise to give you, really... :/

When you make a new song, feel free to advertise them in the Audio Advertisements! thread, and remember to check out the audio stickie, in case you haven´t allready.

Those trolls have power because the people that are serious about the portal still download and listen without voting, thus zero votes will have a vast impact on the scores. I'd guess it was about the same face as I had when I voted up one of my songs just to see (bleh), It was my most known song, and had like 35 reviews.

Yeah, this site is full of little wankers voting down stuff for no reason, it's an unfortunate part of an otherwise good site.
I tend to not even look at the score of tracks anymore, it's irrelevant, all you gotta do is get yourself a bit of a following by reveiwing other artists tunes and the reviews should be returned in kind. I know I owe you a review:)
Try not to let it bother you, if people vote your stuff down it's only because they feel threatened or are just pre-pubescent, so it's not a big deal.

it's good to see the general concensus is that everyone's with me on this one, i'm not asking for pettyness, i'm asking for honesty which is how im percieving all of these replies on this to feel the same way. i mean im 'competin' (exaggerated there so peeps dont take it the wrong way) with the likes of kingbastard n that on the indie page (don't worry man i love ur music), it's great to see u guys givin me a lil advice n support man, n i love u all for it, maybe it's cos im a noob im still finding me way around the system u know, hopefully i'll be able to dish out the same advice to the next generation of noobs. thanks everyone for givin me reassurances, we're all protective of our work, i mean, it's our fucking baby man, but all the advice has been taken on board n im seeing things alot differently now.

PiePie's not your enemy. In fact, there aren't any real "enemies" here at all. Although I can never actually say for certain, I'm almost positive that nobody here would target yours or anyone elses submissions for a mass zero strafing run - especially over some bullshit comment made in a random topic.

It's important to be able to deal with AP crap - like the zero voters, but it's just as important to be able to deal with the AF crap - like getting to know who's who so you don't accidentaly shoot yourself in the foot.

No biggie - but still , this is a relatively tight forum - people come and go but there's a core who always remain and they all seem to stick together when they need to.
