Yes, its a foolish move, to fight a war on three fronts, when you are short on fuel supplies. Only one army was able to defeat Russia and make it past the mountains, which act as a good natural barrier against invaders. They freeze to death. The Mongolians were the only ones to do it, and even then, they lost roughly two-thirds of their army and supplies to the cold.

When the Mogolian invaded Russia, it was in 13th century with an army of 2 million in roughly 5 years. I cannot believe that Hitler believed that Russia would surrounder in the first 3 months. Invading a huge and cold neutral nation with millions of armies from late July certainly dug the grave for Hitler.

??? The Golden Horde came from the steppes and invaded through Kazakhstan against the Caspian Sea up the Volga. What mountains? And 2/3 of their army? LOL. Funny. The Mongols met little to no resistance in any battle they fought and would have razed all of Europe to the ground if not for the death of Genghis Khan and the subsequent withdrawal of the Mongol armies from Europe. Vienna was right in the crosshairs of Subutai and Batu Khan when Genghis Khan died and would have posed little resistance.
