I remeber going to the mall once with my friend, who was dark complected (he wasnt an african american or a latino, he was jewish), We were just shopping around and this guy comes up to us and says "d***, thats a nice white b**** you's got there". I was really shocked and so was he. And needless to say the guy felt really bad when my friend told him he wasnt black.

I'm white, and often say to other white guys "wassszzzzuuuuuup my crackaaaaa." If black guys can do that kind of thing, why can't I? Seriously.

I think that being racist shows that you are close minded and are very stereotypical. People like that need to open up, I mean there can be joking about races, I am white, and I joke about me being white alot, But if you are avoiding people or treating them differently just because of race. Then you are proving to be a lifeless idiot, who can't look past your nose, Grow up, and learn to respect others.

You know, I don't actually know many black people. There was one guy in my school, and I got on OK with him (he was a chav, though). Then I stayed on at college and he went off to work. I do know a few asians and orientals, though, and I get on well with them, an'all. In fact I have a good mate who's chinese. My college is still a vast majority white, though. I need to go out more, then I may meet some more people...

I don't get it. The N-word is offensive, whether you modify it or not. I cringe when I hear it.

As much as I hate saying it racism will always be. Rasism against Blacks, Asians, Latinos, etc. may die away, but we as humans want a reason to make our selfs better then others, so racism will become more and more specific. First we separated our selfs by physical strength, then by nobility, and finally ethnicly. It is as infinite as time ans the universe.

The real problem with racism is that, one, people are still constantly thnking about it, and two, that people think it only applies to whites against blacks.
Most of these problems can be fixed with the simple knowledge of what racism actually entails. All racism is, is just making a dividing line between people based solely on race, and treating them differently because of that, usually in a discriminatory manner.
When you who worry about being called racist see someone (say you are white) who is black and you talk to them, do you go out of your way to try not to offened them? If you dont tehn you are one of the small public that is actually helping ths world become free of racism. You see, even if you are ultra-kind and trying as hard as possible not to offend, you are still treating them differently and making them feel different. This is primarily what led this this counter racism we experience today, as i will get into later. For example, however, within my speech and debate class we have just about every single color of skin. We have caucasians, british, filipeno, blacks, indians (a lot of those), canadians, red-heads, itialiens, chinese, japanese, and even Koreans. The reason we are such a close group, however, is because we dont care about racism and so, within us, it doesnt exist. As a matter of fact, we are as insensitive towards each other as possible! I call my black friend hershey, he calls me marshmallow, we make fun of every race in that class, and even make fun of ourselves. The difference with us, however, is that when one of us makes fun of another's race, everyone laughs because we all know it is just fun and games and everyone holds everyone else in the deepest respect. This coexistence could never have happened if we were always paying attention to each other's race or ethnicity and worrying about what we say to them. Essentially, we have no racism.
The second part about my whole shpeel (that is a word, right? lol) is that people think racism only applies for whites against blacks. A couple of days ago one of my white friends(a freshman) was walking down the hallway when a big black kid walked out of his way to give my friend a stiff shoulder. My friend asked him to watch where he was walking and the black kid said something along the lines of f*** you. Now, this pissed my friend off hella bad so they got into a fight at lunch. My friend got the shit kicked outta him by the black kid and all that kid's friends. Both were suspended for five days, but the administration tried to expel my friend on account of racism. No charge like this was ever brought against the black kid. Apparently when a white kid fights a black kid in a mutual fight, and loses, it is still enough to condem him to racism. This kind of immunity doesnt just apply to fights. If you are talking to a black kid(say, again, that you are white) for the first time (specifically that kid, not black people in general, lol) and he mentions or inferences that fact that you are white. Do you get offended? probably not. Howver, if you so much as dare mention the fact that he is black or not equal to you in any kind of way, your liable to be called a neo-nazi bent on "purifying" the human race. This double standard is a huge cause for all the counter racism going on. It is almost as if whites are being discriminated against just because we dont want to offend anyone.
That is the real problem with racism in society today.
Everyone, just chillax, dont worry about what color of skin other people are, and try to help racism go by the wayside. If someone hasn't discriminated against you, then why s there a need to discriminate back?
If your black, i would really like to hear your thoughts on this.

People take racism far to serious these days. Most of the discrimination is just to target someone you just dislike/hate.

Instead of feeling that offended by the word n*****, you should be proud of it, as every race has his own good qualitys and bad qualitys. And when it does happen, that a group hates your guts, what right does that give you to hate them back? This is no matter of who started it, as in war, everyone is guilty, doesnt mather who started. Dont try to put all the blame on someone else, for something you BOTH did, take your part of the responsibilty on you.

Yer, that's the case in a lot of things, now isn't it? It's getting that the "inferior" being is the english-speaking, white, blonde, atheist, blue-eyed, mid 30s man, because no matter what he does, he'll insult either a different-language-speaker, another race, a religious person, a teen or pensioner, or a woman. All these groups are immune in their respective debate circles, but the man is not. He can be called racist, sexist, ageist, anti-semitic/christian/muslim etc., any of these, even if all he's doing is standing there existing.

Racism works like Willy Wonka's glass elevator: upways, downways, sideways, frontways, backways, roundways, squareways, and any other ways you can think of. In the end you hate yourself. And that is the worst thing you can do.

In my old school it was very multi-cultural, it was 1/3 of the school that had kids from different races. We all got along ok but what pissed a lot of people of is that everyone that was black or everyone who was asian stayed in a group and just slagged everyone off who was white. Sure we weren't that innocent but it was the type of enviorment that some people hated. But just for the fun of it we just started to call ourselves "crakkas" like "hello, what is up my fellow crakka?" But If eceryones skin colour was the same, then the world will be a boring place to live in. We wouldnt even be talking about it would we?

It depends where you live in England, In my old town you get a lot of it but in hertfordshire its hardly multi-cultural.

True point about the slavery thing. Why are all these people now saying "Go back to where you came from!"? It's just ridiculous.

We all need educating. In all these matters. We need to learn in our schools about different cultures, like WHY women in some coutries are supposed to cover up. We need to be taught about religions, like WHY muslims are told to pray 5 times a day. We need to have myths dispelled and truths told about different races. (One question is, do all black men have big you-know whats, and all asians have small ones? Sorry to lower the level of conversation there, but that's a statistic people should be told in sex ed). GIVE ME KNOWLEDGE!!!

Sorry again, just want to clarify, it is an honest question, I really don't know whether to believe that.
