Me here again with some more Macromedia (excuse me, "formerly macromedia") news. Even though Flash 8 was a recent release, Flash 9 (codename "Blaze") is already in development and right around the corner. If you're interested in its progress, or want to suggest a new feature for flash 9, head over to the Flash Team's official blog page and takea look around.

Here are the top requests, taken from the main page:

- Code collapse/code folding
- Comment/un-comment buttons/shortcut keys
- Function browser (auto-populate a list of the functions declared within your current document and jump to the code when selected)
- Snippets
- Custom class introspection (code completion for custom classes)
- Class browser

Personally, I'm more looking forward to the overall jump to Actionscript 3.0. More on that here.

As far as me, I've got a new game coming this month, as well as some Pico Day stuff under construction. Pico day is still well over a month away, so if you've got plenty of time if you want to join in!

Oh, and it looks like there might be a dronkn party breaking out on cams page 2 :O

woah sweet! thanks for that, would have taken me a while to stumble across that otherwise probably :p though i'm no good at actionscript, i can't wait to see what actionscript 3.0 has to offer :0 as usual, i assume it will be easier, and much more powerful, which is always good.

that's not true. this new flash probably won't be out for a while. also, if you have flash 8, you can update to flash 9 for less money (or you have been able to in the past) than it costs to buy the entire product :p

Oh thats cool!

Me and the rest of X_Aldin Productions only use flash to conver our stuff to the correct type of file and obviously for the compression. Occasionally we put some effects in so Flash 9 might help us out more than we think. I just dont want it to get too complicated :S

Flash 9 has got me interested, but not overwhelmed.
The upgrade of actionScript will no doubt be a good one, lots of improvments and additions.
But some of it seems just a little more drawn out, maybe not in a good way.

Of course ive not seen much of it yet, and so ill reserve my judgment till its final release.

Looks like flash 9 is going to e another one for the developer, maybe flash 10 will fix up some of the flash 8 design bugs?

im excited about this but I hope adobes prices are cheaper than macromedias, flash 8 was only just released like august time and it'd be a shame to waste money on something like that

may i ask is it just flash or is it dreamweaver too?

if so do you have any clue what the new features are?

not only tweenable envelopes, but scriptable envelopes would be way bad-ass, make 3-d effects much easier and more flexible.
