March Contest!

I've taken it upon myself to start a music contest in march, as the last one was so successful.

The rules are slightly different, to allow a more free submission system, and they are listed below:

-You can submit either a new track, or one that you have already produced.
-It can be any style, and of any length.
-There will be two categories. Lightweight and Heavyweight. If you have more than 40 submissions to your name, you must enrol for the Heavyweight category. If, however, you have less, you can enrol for either.
-It will be judged by up to three judges (average score is the one that counts)
-The tracks will be submitted to a competition account.

Once your track is complete, or you know what you're going to submit, contact me via my hotmail address for the password to the competition account.

The deadline for entry is the 25th of March, and for the sake of my e-mail address, I'd ask you not to submit until the 18th at the earliest.

Also, 5 judges are required, 3 for heavyweights, 2 for lightweights. If you want to judge, post below.

Note: I may or may not be using the Audio Artists account, depending on how quickly I can get the password for it.

Please use this thread to sign up for the competion ONLY. If it has to be done, sombody can open up a discussion thread, or we can use the lounge.

Hmm, Nice idea Khuskan.
But why not build a Website for those competitions of yours?
Maybe you Close the website when competition is done
And Open it when you have a new competition.

P.S build a contact page to submit the tracks for you.

But this idea is also great. But i dont really trust it with e-mailing and such :)

It's been done before, and it worked fine. I don't submit the tracks, you get the password for the account mailed to you.

Is it a good idea to have another one so soon?

heavyweight, meaning veterans, and lightweight meaning, beginners correct?

I do not think letting the person decide which one to join is a good idea. I feel the judges should determine that.

Why?

Because, if I decided to join light weight, it would be unfair to them. I am not trying to sound snobbish, or conceited or anything, but I like to think I have a fairly good number of techniques and experience over some of the newer artists.

With that said, I would also like to be the judge for Heavy Weight and if not enough support is shown in Light Weight, I would like to judge there also.

I think it should be more based on record numbers/download count. A person with 40 songs could have no golds (often the case), while someone like Sorrow could have less than 40 but multiple gold records, meaning he is most likely better.

Maybe something like Lightweight is one or less gold record, and Heavyweight is 2 or more gold/ 1 or more platinum/ 1500+ total downloads (or somthing like that)

And I got a completely different meaning from the lightweight/Heavyweight thing...
My interpretation was more along the lines of the overall feel of the submission...

Could I be a judge for lightweight? Although I may be a new artist, I've been an active listener/critic of music in both Newgrounds and the real world. I also listen to a diverse group of music...

i dont think a person who can submit a song should be allowed to be a judge seeing as Maestro won last time. no offense, but can anyone else see my reasoning?! also, when the scores are submitted, can we see who graded also?

im just trying to make this as fair as it possibly can.

I'd like to judge, too lazy to compete.

And as far as I know he did not offer his services as a judge.

I can be a judge though, if you want. I probably wont enter anything this time around.

No, unless, you revamp it so its technically not the same song.
