I may get anally raped for this, but did anyone use to watch Roseanne? I thought that show was the shit, and even though Darlene is a PETA loving lesbian now, she was cool as hell back in the day.

For the cooler people who hate me because I watched Roseanne, anyone still watch Fresh Prince of Bel Air? They have reruns on Nick @ Nite, and I have to say, sitcoms are not the same, that show was hilarious.

Well, I like John Goodman.

As for old sitcoms, I've got to go with Cheers. It had great humor and related to just about anyone with the worries and troubles of everyday life.

Never judge a book by its cover. I rarely watch Cheers, but when I do I find it very funny. There was nothing gay about it.

The Oldest Sitcom I watch and loved was the honeymooners. During the new years eve marathon, they show all the episodes. Just because it's old does'nt mean it sucks, why it's better then all the shitty sitcoms we have today.

Well, all I can say is I miss Married With Children. Maybe it's not all that old and there's still reruns every so often (like at 8am during weekdays...), but to me it's old... and I miss it.

:(

I loved the older sitcoms from back in the day. Shows of outstanding nature include:

Newsradio
Perfect Strangers
Night Court
Family Ties
ALF
Growing Pains

I could go on forever...

When I was young I liked to watch Full House and Family Matters.
But seeing them the other day... man those shows suck balls.

I dunno, but Jinny, Gilligan and BeWitched were the plague of my tv when I was a kid.

And that black and white Denis the menace show, that fucking blew. The cartoon rocked though.

I like Seinfeld, that's about the only "old" sitcom I watched, and 15 years old is plenty old to me :p
And Third Rock from the Sun. That was cool. Because I was bored.

I still watch Roseanne and Fresh Prince every so often. There are a lot of episodes that I know that I saw but don't remember watching when I was younger, so it's like watching them all for the first time again.

i'm talking about British sitcoms here.

It pisses me off when people talk about the decline of the sitcom, what decline! Sure Fawlty towers, Dads Army e.t.c. are great. But if you ask me recent sitcoms like: The office, Alan Partridge, Peep show, phoenix nights are just as good and some even better in my opinion.

- Growing pains
- Third rock form the sun
- saved by the bell
- Full house

Cheesy today, acceptable back then (like the dukes of hazard). I did watch some Roseanne epps from time to time but it was too young to really like it back then.

Even though what you say is true, I think the majority of the better sitcoms were from the good old days.

I don't know about British sitcoms, I don't really like Brit humor, but I've never really seen any.

I totally forgot about Seinfeld. I love Roseanne and Fresh Prince is funny, but Seinfeld is the shit. It amazes me that a show about a bunch of dysfunctional adults doing nothing can appeal to anybody, including a bunch of college kids.

I watch seinfield, gilligan's island and Third rock from the sun too, but I mean that old sitcoms were the best and their legacy will be forgotten because of the crappy shows we have on the WB and on Fox. I'm talking about the War at home and What I like about you, stacked, and then the list goes on. Their jokes are corny and the plot for all the shows plot is so predictable it's a mockery to good sitcoms. That's why I only watch TV land for sitcoms that are actually good
