This may be a stupid topic but its been hard to think of one. Does the United States really have anyone that backs us up 100%??? Like Germany for example some stupid woman calling us the new Axis of evil. Seems to me that when we go to war we make some new buddies then after the war is over and we've given them tons of money for aiding us they go back to being SOBs that were hating and being jealous of the US

The US has allies because our government act multilaterally when convenient, so we give them somethin for their friendship, but the moment we stop giving our help and such, they'll turn around and stab the US in the back.

Israel is our ally. I'm pretty sure that they are #1 on the list. Japan might be #2
Most nations that don't want to get shot with 50 zillion nukes are pretty friendly to us also,

countries like israel are us's allies just because the us
cuz its convenient to them, but i think that if some country or organization gets stronger then the us, it would be a real problem to the us, noone wants to be an ally of an imperialist government, but also noone wants to be nuked

I think everything said here is true, but hey we're ushually the same way - defending countries from tyrants that have our oil, while China is our best buddy. That's just politics really, its survival. :\

Given the atrocities committed by the US, it doesn't surprise me in the least that nobody would want to ally themselves with the only nation in the world to be convicted of state terrorism by the world court.
Regardless, it's absurd to say that Germany and France "stab you in the back." What, you mean the way they condemn the US for not following international law? Yeah, how DARE they expect you to respect the sovereignty of other nations. The United States hasn't been attacked in over 60 years*! It doesn't HAVE any "enemies," other than the dislike of several third world nations whose current plights can be traced back to US intervention.
*September 11th was not an attack by a hostile nation. It was a terrorist crime committed by a bunch of madmen, and yes, it was horrible, but the Afghani government had nothing to do with it.

Well, generally, and the past 50 odd years(before 9/11) the US acted pretty unilaterally, it didn't give a shit. After 9/11 it tried to build a coalition, fucked around with a country, left, then decided to act unilaterally again.

The only ally we may have is Britain. We have been chummy with them since Wold War 2. We aligned with them for that, so they are supporting us.
But Bush seems to think this war is fighting an axis of evil, like in WW2. the difference is that he wants to wage a war unilaterally, with no support from other allied countries. WW2 was a WORLD WAR!! Everyone was fighting everyone. It was not a military move by America to distract from the high unemployment, falling stocks, dissension of citizens and increase "big Brother" control of the country.

Please dont offend the allies that you have by questioning our commitment to the U.S.A. I am an Australian and we have backed America since day one of the War on Teror... Just like we have in the past.... we do not have the military might that America has... we supported you in the Gulf War, Vietnam, Korea and WWII.... we are but a small part of the Western Aliiance(U.S.A,U.K, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, France) but a part nonetheless. We have backed you guys in the past and i dare suggest always will!!

Britan.
If there is anyone who respects the US on this planet, it's them. We're the only country that has not only told them to take their colonialism and shove it, but also grown more powerful than them in everything from politics to culture to economy. When we did that, we forever gained their respect.
Now they're our little bitch, and quite happy about it.

Actually America stole most of Britain's markets during World War 1 and 2. They also totally screwed us on the whole A bomb thing. Britain, after the second world war had a crumbling empire and were massively in debt(to Canada and America). They wanted to mantain their position of power, so decided to latch on to a superpower and they weren't going to latch onto Russia, so America was chosen. I'm not quite sure what you mean by overtaking in culture and politics....unless you consider fast food and trash TV culture, and two right-wing parties dominating government politics.

Without reading any of the other responses before responding myself, I'd have to say no.
Bush singlehandedly alienanted the entire world when he layed out the 'either your for us or against us' ultimatum a while back. The world is full of gray areas, and he decided to take those away.
Other countries might respect us out of fear...or help us out of fear...after all. We do have the largest nuclear arsenal on earth. So in essence, Bush could -force- allies to back us. It's sad, really.
However, even though I'm angry with the way things are going, and where they're headed...I have to admit. Americans enjoy freedoms still today that many countries can only dream about. And I have a feeling that if the boundaries of the United States flew wide open for some reason, parts of the world would be a ghost town, while the US doubled or tripled in size. All in all, we don't have it too bad.
Yet.
There's that word. Yet. Bush is taking us closer and closer to losing all that we've fought for.

So you mean this thread is honestly gay?
It's a male thread that prefers the company of other male threads? It goes out with other male threads to gay thread bars? It has sex with other male threads?
I didn't know threads could be gay. I didn't think they were alive.

China our best buddy?.....Yeah fucking right. They hate us and do whatever they can against the U.S. short of starting a war or getting sanctions layed on them. They are corrupt totalitarians the only reason that we don't rank them with Iraq or North Korea is because we need their trade.

You really should do some History then I wouldn't have to correct you. Britain saved itself from Hitler, they won the battle of Britain, there was no way Hitler would invade. The majority of Hitler's armies were sent to fight the USSR, who, if any single country won the war, it would be them. They killed 80% of all German soliders. And the US did indeed screw Britain over, especially on the issue of the A-bomb. Where British science and information was sent to America, along with the German jewish element to build an A-bomb. The Americans knew very little at the time, after the war ended the Americans said they would not tell Britain how to build an A-bomb. I could go into more detail if you wish, but I fear I will only embarass you with your ignorance.

Yes, a plan which gave money to countries to A) get them trading again and B) stop communist revolutions.
We rebuilt your god damned island after World War II along with the rest of Europe.
You overestimate the importance of the Marshall Plan, the Marshall Plan, the Labour Government and the loans from US and Canada(notice a loan is when some money is "loaned" and then paid back with interest) not to mention the people of Britain rebuilt Britain's economy.
You know where you would be without the U.S.?
Probably enjoying myself since you and the ignorance that surrounds you and most of your countrymen would not exist.

Japan and Israel may be allies but their not trusted by the US. Our most trusted ally is the UK for the reason that they supported the US in the biggest invasion upon Hitler in World War 2.

When people consider alliegances, they don't think back that far. They consider in the padt 5, possibly 10 years.
Germany isn't resentful of WW2.
Austria isn't still fuming over it's defeat.
France isn't still cheering and celebrating it's liberation. No matter how much countries did in WW2, it's irrelevant now.

If we hadn't come in and invaded with operation overlord then the war would have continued with you Brits holed up on your island and the Russians making very little progress in pushing the the Germans back since the Germans wouldn't have had to fight a two front war since England lacked the power to launch an offensive on its own.
Aside from the U.S. the Germans were the only ones close to building a nuclear bomb. While you and the Russians might have managed to beat the Germans by around 1950 without us but by then London and Moscow would be radioactive craters.
You know where you would be without the U.S.?Probably enjoying myself since you and the ignorance that surrounds you and most of your countrymen would not exist.
You would be a fascist pawn under Hitlers boot, instead of a socialist pawn conquered by nothing but his own foolishness.

If Britain hadn't kept on fighting likeit did, the US would be German, too. Both countries played pivitol roles in the War.

Well do we back anybody else 100%? Nope, besides I'd be concerned if somebody backed us up without question, that shows lack of indepent thought.
