Multiplayer Flashes

Are multiplayer flash games (over the internet) allowed on newgrounds? Because all the games that are like that are marked for administrative review.

Newgrounds doesnt let flash to contact outside servers. so that means no multiplayer :P.

what the hell are you going on about? that would mean no remote scoreboards. no, im sure its allowed, as long as it is done properly. the difficulty is making a game that supports multiplayer that can handle an audience the size of newgrounds...

yeah but sending information over domains with $_POST or $_GET is allowed with flash as long as you can get the cross-domain policies from the other domain, BUT with multiplayer games that uses xmlSockets, it is only possible to connect from a local machine (not on the internet, on your desktop) or from the internet with at server hosted on the same computer.. so a mutliplayer game on NG (as much as I know) would be impossible!

well thats what delta told me... well u can get info out of the flash but not load stuff to ur flash movie. U can obviously click a button to open like a window (getUrl();) which will be for like the script but u cant load(); ,ect.

Several people have done it. What kills it is too many people connecting. I think the reason why so many of those so called "multiplayers" are flagged is because I think people made a very large flash and called it a multiplayer to get good votes. Some guy did that a while back he called his flash "Hentai multiplayer" and it "tried" to connect to a server. It actually passed but it ends up it was a fake and he soon replaced the .swf with some flashy light thing.

Strangely I've never seen any multiplayer game on NG.. it would have probably been on front page for months if there had been one...

I don't mean like a full scale multiplayer, but some guy did a chatroom multiplayer chess game but it crashed during the first day. The underestimate the amount of traffic they get.

I submitted a multiplayer yahtzee like a year ago, it worked perfectly for the 20 concurrent users my version of smartfoxserver supported. It eventually got flagged, I think because I used the standard interface for the chat, but of course the game was programmed by me.

From what I could tell from the reviews, the people that got a chanse to play it, liked it very much. But until I can afford a full version of smartfox that supports unlimited users, and a good server to run it on, I wount be submitting any more multiplayer games.
