Everyone's narrowminded until they get into college.
And then they grow out of that phase?
Why?
Because the majority of the political ideology they learn, they soon realize is impractical.
To quote South Park,

As far as gay marriage goes, I am for "gay marriage" not "civil unions/domestic partnerships" because the latter is too easily abused by people (an elderly woman and her live-in nurse could qualify for shared health insurance benefits... which would devalue the meaning of what the "civil union" is trying to accomplish). Otherwise, I really don't care if there are same-sex couples, because I wouldn't be offended by it if it happened... But if you really want to discuss politics with me, go to the politics forum, or at least IM me.
As far as ignorance goes, it doesn't matter whether you live in the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd world, people are generally going to be pretty fucking stupid no matter where they lie on the political spectrum or how educated they are (a Harvard professor can still be a moron, but just on a level you probably wouldn't notice... or even care).
