hey everyone,
have you noticed how complicated it is to get good videogame style music from music creating programs. Have you ever wondered if there is a program to make good music? well wish no longer, get guitar pro 5 or 4. Its pretty cheap and guitar pro 5 has a RSE (realistic sound engine). What you simply do is compose a piece of music that sounds video game styled. and File > Export it as a Midi file. It now sounds like a mono/poly ringtone. Perfect for mario style sprite animations or other game based animations.

Wow. Good on you. You have devised a way of making otherwise useful MIDI files sound crap.

Would you like a medal? ;)

I don't tend to take advice from people that have the words 'greenday' and 'punk' in their name.

Yeah... you want it to sound like a poly ringtone? That's NOT GOOD. But thanks for the heads up on another music program.

Well, Guitar Pro wasn't intended for making music. It's a tablature program. However, there are programs, and even real instruments, solely for making music. I recommend trying them out.

I just wanted to add Anvil Studios and Finale Notepad to the list. Erm, they're not the best but it all depends on what kinda music you are making and how you prefer to make them. To tell you the truth, I don't even use my Anvil Studios anymore.

Ah yes, they might not be the best, BUT THEY'RE FREE.

That made me laugh. It's now my sole objective to find an instrument that ISN'T solely for making music.

Just because a piece of software is designed for one thing, doesn't mean you can't use it for another (no matter how hard the results may suck).

Same thing applies to hardware...there are so many chiptune artists who use NES and Gameboy systems as the basis for their music.

Yer, u get my drift, i always experiment with programs and if the result is crap i loose none, has anyone herd mario being played on guitar, now sum1 try and tell me that that would sound good on a sprite animation.

I have no idea, but it's got a great name and includes lots of scientific mumbo-jumbo in the write-up, so it MUST be good

so.. If i name anything with a really cool name and include lots of scientific mumbo jumbo.. does that automatically make it cool? Is that an automatic recipe for coolness?I'll have to remember that..

It kinda looks like a futuristic outhouse..

And one more ;)

http://www.synthmuse..sio/casvltone01.html

(if you can't be bothered reading, it's basically a mini analog synth with a calculator attached. Apparently it was designed for corporate dudes who got bored at work and wanted to play some music :P. I have one and it's the best $10 I ever spent :P)
