not the least bit. MTV Get off the air is written by Jello Biafra. Former lead vocalist to punk rock band Dead Kennedys. DK broke up after promotional disputes. The other 3 sued Jello cuz he wouldn't let his songs/band act as an advertising whore for Levis, they wanted to put Holiday in Cambodia in a commercial. MTV is so fake not even the "real world" is real. You may remember what happened to Irene a couple of years ago. She said that the show was so fake, the fridge was filled to the brim with Nantucket Nectar and if she tried to drink anything else the crew grabbed it from her. When she wanted to protest and left the show another cast member hit her.

Well MTV Australia is really good - I had a look at the American MTV guide and you're right it does suck, but MTV Australia still plays a huge range of music. The American one just seems to play pop and R&B. We get headbangers ball, MTV partyzone, dancefloor chart, MTV Yo, greatest hits and Most Wanted - which is nothing like TRL so there's not too much pop.

We also get the good MTV shows like jackass played almost everyday.. no crap like Tough Enough 3.

Australia also has Channel V which is really good for live music - they also cover the big day out.

I also forgot to say is that the only commercials I've ever seen on MTV Australia are Optus (the cable company) and McDonalds.

I have noticed that half the shows on MTV have nothing to do with music in the first place. so i'm really confussed. i would rather be watching any type of musci video, as long as it's not stoopid, aka. mostley thug gansta wannabes, then "reality Tv". Real world wtf, i dont' know how that ties with music. Well i'm not going to bitch about it too much, and yeah, Mc Donalds rulz fuck ya!, 2 cheeseburgers and 3 chicken nugets, oh yeah....

Well at a time MTV was to represent the youth of the world. Unfortunately over time it's merely represented the extremely wealthy. Sifl and Olly was a great show that had nothing to do with music videos, but like most content that is good, MTV ripped from the station. I have been reading some posts that caught my eye about this whole voting 0 thing. Honestly, I think the NG staff have every right to do whatever they will to this site as they please. I wish I could be as creative enough to start an entire site based on exactly what everyone wants. My mother even finds most of this amusing. The main problem is whether or not having a site catered to the young people in the world gives the users a right to walk all over the rules and principles that make this a great website. I think even as young as the creators may be they still have responsibilities to the submitters for the many things we watch and play on a daily basis. I think the voting system is great, and I think that being fair is pretty great too. I know without the creative minds of the animators we would have no reason to be here.

I suppose this is a dead topic, but I think I've only scratched the surface. I want to get everyone's opinion if I can.

MTV went from Music Telivision to Stupid Hippie Loser Reality Show Television

I used to have MTV Canada, And I must say it sucked monkey balls. Insted of TRL, there was Select, where you get to select what you want to see. It just seemed the people who were actually selecting these videos ( call them people if you must ) had really bad taste. Like everyday the winner would be Britney Spears. EVERYDAY. I only watched MTV for Jackass anyways.

MTV sucks, but what about MTV X. What happened to MTV X. I miss MTV X all it showed was rock videos. It rockz0red, but yeah MTV does suck. It has become mindless ass shows. It is crap

Well sk8r girl that's the whole point I was making. The world today just seems to be one mind striving for mediocrity. I can't imagine why britney spears would be what everyone wants to watch, but you have to figure the ones who are doing the voting are the ones that like her. Most people don't care enough to vote that's why pop always wins over everything else. We need to make a stand against things like this. Let's say we all voted on Daffy Duck for president, could the electoral college give out votes based on majority if the majority was for Daffy Duck. If you don't vote than you lose out on voicing your opinion. The main reason why things suck so bad.

I used to watch MTV until they started playing all RAP music. Since they are based in NYC, i think they believe the rest of the country likes rap music. I miss watching the BOX. Remember that, you'd dial the 1900 number and type in the code of the music video you wanted.

The people who vote on those creepy little shows are little preppy kids that have nothing to do since:
a) after school means TRL time!
b) they're not on the phone, too busy watching Britney take it again, if she didn't it would be tragedy
and c) OGM! A HEAD TO HEAD TO HEAD BATTLE WITH JUSTIN AND BRITNEY WOULD JUST BE SO TOTALLY FUNNY. MUST GET ON COMPUTER AND VOTE! MUST TAKE ALL GOOD MUSIC OUT BECAUSE IT IS NOT FAKE LIKE OUR MANUFACTURED MUSIC!

I agree with you totally. The record execs have found a formula that works and they beat it to death. It's not just pop though that's guilty of this repulsive brand of music. Take a look at "alternative" bands such as Three Doors Down, Default, Nickelback, Seven Channels, and many more. They all have this prefabricated sound to them. That's what works that's what sells albums, but I can't appreciate that. I love bands like Bile whom have never sold out to anyone, and yet you can't find a single one of their albums. It doesn't sell it's not good for marketing. I wish there was some way to point out the fact that not all the "best" things are best. They destroy the very reasons why we are a great nation.

vibes, ure right, on MTV Australia we had headbangers ball (they took that off, bastards) but we still have superock
its really good, all they play are rock videos, pity it doesnt go for longer

with most wanted, yeah they do play a variety, i just change the channel when shit comes on, some of the interviews are good too

we still have beavis and butthead and sifl and olly occasionally *luv that show* but its fading out, being smothered by dance music and shitty hip-hop/rap etc.

i only have three music channels,
musicmax (old fogies stuff plus sum good old rock) channel V (alot of australian stuff plus all the normal shit, no reality shows or anything thank god)
and MTV Australia

Speaking of MTV Australia, they're having a Beavis and Butthead Marathon this Sunday.. from 5PM eastern till midnight (I think).

FOXTEL's shitty online tv guide only goes up till tomorrow for MTV - and they don't print times in the foxtel/optus magazines.

Too bad I don't live in Australia.
