Why is it that when a women commits a violent crime she has "Snapped" while if a male commits the same crime he is simply a mean and vicious predator? Is this disparity instilled by the media, or is the media just aggregating societal views? How deeply entrenched in practices of persuasion are these sources of current events? Why is a female the victim of circumstances while the man is a monster? Does anyone else think they should change the name of this show to "Crazy fucked up womenn who deserve to get the shit smacked out of them?"
Snapped is a television series on Oxygen

I think it is because we see woman as vulnerable and weak, because we think we are more important then them.. so when they do something nasty, it's not their fault 'cause it was bound to happen anyway.. but when men commit a crime,
"he's just a piece of shit who nieds whiping up" - Burnt Face man
vague enough 4 u?

Absolutely - this is probably a common point of view that's also a form of discrimination.
The idea that women "snap" because thier psyches are so different (read fragile) from the neanderthal males and are subject to being broken by any hormonal fluctuation is a masogenistic point of view at best.
Something that I posted about in another topic applies here as well - I'm convinced that some women (not all mind you - just the radicals) do not want equal rights - they want special rights. They want to be treated better - not the same as every other schmuck walking around but those are just the hard-core era & now types...

Women commit crimes all the time. I think you're attempting to put some false distinction out there, and then act like everyone takes stock in it.
How many people here believe that this is true? No one? Huh. I guess NG must be an oasis of enlightenment... *cough*
The one thing force produces is resistance.

Sure - why not... Although it was a very broad statement (get it.. broad... 'cuz their women... oh, nvrmind) but that it also seems to be a common way of seeing things.
Easy enough - we, myself included, love to express our retarded views and argue them - sometimes against any hope of winning - so that we can feel like we're actually thinking about "real issues" or that we're somehow - smarter, faster and better than we really are - fact is, I'm sitting here type type typing, wasting my weekend on trivial crap like a NG forum...
As to NG being "an oasis of enlightenment" well... of Course we know what we're talking about - I'm right about almost everything that I say - and I can post another comment to back that up too!
Did I mention that I'm 98% full of shit? - I can prove that as well!
Well... it beats the hell out of watching cnn and fox all night I guess...

women are stereotyped as being generally non-violent in our society, as they have throughout recorded history. Although we now know that women are capable of being as-vicious-as or more- vicious-than men, the idea has stuck with us. Therefore, it is more of a shock to us when a supposedly "motherly, gentle, woman" is implicated in a horrific crime—as if they were pushed to the edge by a stimulus rather than being naturally prone inner feelings of suppressed or unsuppressed violence.
