[ This isn't specifically related to Politics however, I would rather post it here since the people I am interested in hearing from and who this relates to are in this forum - If I wanted to listen to thirteen year olds I would hang out in the General Section. ]

What I am wondering is how any of you (especially the ones in college like myself) manage your schedules so that you have time to troll this forum. I mean right now I'm taking five courses and still insist on going to the gym on a regular basis, while also taking time off for the occasional social endeavor. And I'll be honest, it is often difficult enough to perform this juggling act as it is without spending time on a less important hobby such as trolling the internets to spread awareness about the pitfalls of our supposed modern utopia.

I try to manage it so that I don't burn too much time here but I find it difficult to stick to any type of schedule such as: one hour every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. I mean, I'll peacefully go along and read my online news articles or academic papers and then post them on Newgrounds. Sure enough, later on I get the overwhelming urge to constantly check up on each thread for new replies. Even if most of them are stupid, I still get and indulge in the urge to post again, which only leads to more replies thus continuing the cycle. So in short, no matter how much I try to organize and discipline myself I still end up wasting too much time on the BBS and the Internets in general.

If any of you have or are currently dealing with this problem then perhaps you would care to share you thoughts.

kthxbye.

If you've got a heavy workload and you know you can't avoid the tempting allure of the forum, just get yourself banned for a week or some shit.

Haha, it's hilarious that you bring that up since being banned for saying or posting something from a site that is taboo has inadvertenly lead to more productive work weeks.

I've got a big load too, plus 4 days of dancing 2 hrs a day.

But, (yay UofM !) a lot of the stuff I need for classes is online, and I've even got one class where the entire material is online, including podcast lectures, so I'm already spending a lot of time online, and with this bookmarked, it works as a good 5 minute break from the monotomy of schoolwork.

Since Spring Break is this coming weekend, I'll be gone and won't be posting probably at all for the next week (I know some people will throw parties over that.....).

Like right now I'm takng a little break from studying for mid terms........
And now I gotta get back to work.......
FUCK!

Well since your usually such an insensitive jerk, I will definetly be quite pleased with your temporary absence.

Ya, I don't know exactly what it's like for you but the problem for me is that I intend not to spend that long on the BBS but end up doing so anyways. I was just recently thinking about quitting infotrolling all together during the semesters and then coming back when Summer May arrives.

It's all a matter of priorities...passing school is definately on the top of the list. There's no sense in falling behind just to check out the BBS, although some threads can be pretty entertaining.

No sense in it, none at all, but I can see how it'd be pretty tempting to access something like a BBS if you had the means. Especially considering that school is so...well, it's school, and schoolwork/work period is typically boring.

I haven't been on Newgrounds in a while, but I usually just tend to log on whenever I use the internet. I don't have an extremely demanding schedule just yet, so I normally try not to worry about time lost while traversing the forums.

Lol, well I'm not nearly as much of a BBS addict enough to say that my time spent on this forum has had any serious negative effects on my grades. You seem to create a lot of your own topics so I can understand that the urge to browse the forum would be bigger in that situation. But if you really think that you're in a time shortage due to your BBS usage then plan in a few hours each week in which you're not near a computer to study. I don't know what you're majoring in and whether or not it requires a lot of internet activity but resisting the urge to browse is a lot less serious when you're reading or doing exercises with pen and paper.

I personally know that if didn't use the BBS I would still waste every second that I would otherwise have spent on posting or browsing on other mindless activities. So I don't think it's that much of a problem. I think the only period in which I spent a big part of my day on posting was during an ongoing discussion with Lidov in the Israel questions thread but since that died out I've just been posting randomly. I mostly don't really feel an urge to check for replies; I'll read them whenever I have time for it. Usually in the early morning or at night, when the Newgrounds BBS is great to go along with listening to MP3 music.

Lucky bastard :)
The next break I'll be having won't be until July or later...

I prefer not to associate with Nazis. But thank you anyways......

hahah..... Hi, my name's Genghis, I'm addicted to NG BBS (mild applause).
~Hi Ghengis.....
~Hey....ummm, I started back in 03, and haven't been able to stop. I used to post up to 20 hrs a day, and faded the letters off my keyboard. I need help! I'm addicted, I have a problem....
(Step 1 done!).

I kinda do the same thing with my dancing. What works for me is to just rid myself of whatever I use to dance, that way I physically can't do it, and spend more time studying.
Like I'll leave my shoes at home, so I can't dance, or leave my pads or music or whatever behind, so even if I wanted to, I couldn't dance.

For you, simply debookmark NG, don't use your computer, disconnect from the internet, or get banned.
