Another thing i forgot to mention about the student in my school from Iraq, he is well known and very popular. He is popular with every crowd and you know what kind of clothing he wears? Collord shirt and a belt with his pants. Granit i dont wear these things but it goes to show you that it isnt about what you wear so those people that dont want to wear anything different but get descrimination can just bite the bullet because for as long as they dont change, no one else will.

Its all about what you wear people see clothing as an outward expression of who you are thats like one guy I can tell you tons of stories about me walking into a Marshall Feild's and haveing the clerks walk right past me when I'm calling for there help just because I'm a black kid that dresses like a black kid.

And again you have to think about were you live how many black kids are there as opposed to white you come to Detroit were the populations 75% black and you will not make that same statement.

But there's a level of clothing that's considered "respectable" for any occasion. If you tell me you're wearing pants that are barely staying on you they're so baggy, and a shirt with a marijuana leaf on the front, the clerks may have a good reason to avoid you.
Many buisnesses don't want to attract drug users as clientele.
I'm not saying you're any of that, or excusing racist behaviour, but regardless of race, people should dress appropriately and respectably.

I am actually an equal opportunity hater. I don't hate people beacuse they're black, hispanic, asian, white...I hate them because they are people and people suck!!! Perhaps someday animals will once again rule the Earth.

If thats the case then your in luck, all you do is go to the clerk and say that you have been asking for help and that he just walked right by you. If people do that in a store then the manager has to do something about it because the people tha work there have to help every single customer. now if you start yelling at the clerk or manager then he isnt going to do a damned thing. Its all about how you hander the situation. Plus, if they refuse to give you service and kick you out of the store then guess what you can do, sue them.

If people treat you so badly then why dont you go talk to them about it? If you walk by a woman and she clutches her purse then go up to her nicely and asked why she did that. Trust me, if you walk up and say "excuse me mam, but i noticed you holding your purse as if i was going to thieve it. Why did you do that?" Then that person would be in aw at what you just asked them. Plus anyone else that herd that would have a newfound respect for you.

Or else, while she was in awe, you could grab her purse and run!

Oh is quite simple why i dont do that because they like increase there walking speed away from me when they clutch there purses and if i follow she'll call for the cops and when all know white cops arent to kind to black kids threating white women.

I live in Finland,and i dont know much of "black people",but EVERYBODY has same rights! black and white people.

p.s: i mean,they SHOULD have same rights.... i dont want to soundl like a human that knows nothin,i really dont KNOW any "black".

I could understand that, but I would feel weird as a 15 year old white male to walk into a place with a lot of black people and have them give me a weird look. I think it's the same.

Dude, great speech. We are all kinda like brothers, in one way or another. Good stereotypes are, of course, better to say and hear than bad ones, but you're right, they still don't help solve the big problem. They just add to the pile. And every normal respect-giving person, with any color of skin, does deserve some respect too.

Yeah, you go talk to that clerk if you get another chance to get something in the store. Just don't do it in an aggressive manner (no baseball bats, hockey sticks, etc.). There are always going to be ignorant people in the United States and in the world. It is the job of people who aren't, who see people for more than color and clothing, to make sure the ignorant never come to power like they have at times in the past. It's refreshing, though, to know that there are some people that believe in equal rights and civil liberties. Hi I'm new to NG and I thought this looked like the best topic to post in. It not just black, asians, whites etc who get racial abuse. I am English so automatically a lot of people would think I was a stuck up toff who has tea at 16:00 with the Queen. I hate racists I can't fucking stand them but it is nationalities as well as skin colour that is discriminated against.

Reading this topic just strengthens my convictions about american society. Everyone who posts here is so politically correct, so apologetic, and words their responses very carefully. This is a perfect example of American society. Everyone is doing their best to not be labeled as "racist". This is not progress. How do you have progress when everyone is hiding their feelings while trying to conform? The majority of the population- whites, blacks, asians, hispanics, Alaskan natives, native Americans (did I leave anyone out?) are racist. Everyone is a racist at heart. Even animals like their own kind better than a different one. I feel alot more comfortable with whites when I am in a neighborhood because I can relate to them. I am not seen as the "evil opressor" who is "holding them down" . You cannot say that you feel the same no matter what race you are with.

Racism will always continue. Until we are all the same race, there will be racism. As long as people constantly project "I am different" to other people, there will be racism. There is no end to it.

Slavery reparations? Yeah, I do think that African-American slaves from back then did deserve more than just freedom, but something to make up for the mistakes that the European-Americans made, and the shit that they suffered for no reason. (The Asians were in really dangerous labor in North America before, while working on the railroads - many did die, but that's nothing compared to living your whole life as a slave - that's hard, and sometimes highly dangerous labor, 24/7. Being a slave is the next worst thing from being a victim to a genocide. The government back then did deserve a large punishment, but then, now everything has changed, and I guess that since we're just born in this more equal generation, we can't blame people that are in this generation for what has been done by people a long time ago by their grandparents - people they had no control over. And the African-Americans of this generation - they never passed through the slavery, so if they get anything (I'm not exactly saying that they shouldn't, but), they didn't earn it. Their grandparents did.
