True, parents do get their kids to be with some of their habits, good and bad, as it passes on. This does tend to create a chain of ways that keeps on getting passed down.

In my opinion, even if your parents and friends are, for whatever reason, racist, racism for people should be stopped by their common sense. Any person should take put him/herself in the other person's position before he/her judges that other person.

I'm a White Guy and i get the same crap, i listen to rap and dress sorta thug, i don't know if it's cause i'm young, but i'm always getting looked at, but only by the people who work at a store, i understand what your saying that everybody looks at you, but remember that ALOT of the people who lived as thinking blacks people are lower than them are still alive and still have the same views, this generation will make it better and the one after this is gonna make it better

Parents have a serious effect on children and thier beliefs. If a child is told from birth by his parents that the white man is better then the black man, he will think that, unless the parent does such things in a constrictive manner (You know, acting in a way that causes you to want to be the complete opposite of them). If Jim-Bob's daddy/uncle tells him that the black man is inferior, and does it in a simple, laid back way without forcing him to believe anything, Jim-Bob will come to that conclusion, regardless of the rest of his environment, in most situations.

Thanx but the thing is your saying that everone has common sense which sadly *sighs* is'nt to common. It would be a much better world if people could step back and look at themselves and ask "what the hell am I doing" but sadly they can't.

Yeah, so many people in the world do lack common sense. Society has changed, somewhat to the good side, but also to the bad side, and turned to be a bitch toward many people. It's certainly better here than it was about 5-4 decades ago, but there's still a lot for us to improve on.

A guy from another college once asked me once how many lesbians were in my college (because I know these things :P) and I know of 2. Suddenly he says 'So they really are all lesbians?'

There are many stereotypes in the world - a lot of them are not about race but about sex. I guess we just have to face most of them, because the big ones will take a really long before they stat to disappear, if they ever do. About lesbians - many people are legally lesbian and I guess we can't do much about it, whether we like it or not.

BTW, I've noticed, and I'm sure that many of you must also know that there's another growing topic that relates to this subject. Anyone else could also post links to related topics, and also post links to this in related topics - but I think that this topic is already famous enough as it is.

LOL... I dunno about the part about fucking each other, but "fuck" is definitely allowed in the BBS, as long as it's not used in pointless insults, or used as spam, like Ted_Easton mentioned. And since spam here is not so common, the mods don't visit the politics section even close to as often as they do to the general section. So, no worries. :D

The rules and regulations on these forums are so loose. A guy could get to enjoy these forums after awhile. Now if only the entire world could be as loose and lenient with things. Maybe we wouldn't be racist. I don't know what the hell I'm saying.

But honestly, racism is a fact that's been around since the beginning of time, when it was just an impulse by cavemen. It's going to be around long after our deaths, and while we pioneer for the greater good of equality, the message will go largely unheard to the masses of people who we try and correct.

It's no reason to stop, however.

This whole topic is racist. Much of the world is still racist, prejudist, etc. Why do I say this? Because the essence of all those -isms and -ists is the human need to catagorize. If we'd all just stop thinking in black/white/male/female/etc...Sure certian traits exist amongst people, that's a lot to do with the way you were brought up. But we are all unique (i know it's a bit of an oxymoron, go eat some jumbo shrimp!) Each person is a person.

As long as we continue to argue about White America, have channels like BET, Women, and all those other STUPID excuses to organize people into groups then their will be rasism.

First off, I'd vote for Colin Powell. I can tell he doesn't like this Iraq thing, and he doesn't enjoy being used as a mouthpiece for George. I think Powell has a lot of potential and good in him, and could do a lot of great things for the nation. Al Sharpton? No, no thank you.

They don't do it out of racism, etc., though there would be massive outcry if people only voted for people because they are white, but I believe America needs a racial minority president. They've never had one, and the presidents they HAVE been going with aren't working out very well.

Yeah, I guess we probably can't totally even things up, but true, there's no reason to stop trying to make things more equal, for the humans here in the future, to enjoy, closer-to-perfect (if perfect is next to impossible) racial harmony. Second place is still better than third, right?
