Totally agreed, although it could have gone either way. I think Italy just grabbed it on their defence. They had those excellent shots more than Germany as well.

I will say Italy played better passing, and count in the fact Germany WASTED several attempts.

Italy cheated Australia in the first match, this you cannot deny.

Well, I predicted Italy to win the tournament way back in the first few pages of this thread, and I still believe that to be the case. Maybe they haven't played the best, or deserved to be in the final (the Australia game for example was a travesty), but those two late goals were class and their history suggests they will be favourites in the final, whether against France of Portugal. Germany can hold their heads high for getting way further than anyone would believe possible before the tournament (including the German people themselves), and they can build on this and be the force of old in years to come.

I have a severe disliking of Portugal (funny that), and will be rooting for France every step of the way. The idea of ronaldo getting his grubby hands on that trophy makes me sick, and I don't want to see it. Lets just hope the real France come out, not the shadow of a side from the last two tournaments, and the first round of this one.

As anyone noticed 3 out of the 4 semi finalists both started quite badly. Italy had a disappointing 1 -1 with USA. France were appaling in the first 2 games. Germany had awful defence against Costa Rica and were disappoing against Poland.

The 3 teams that started best were Spain, Argentina and Czech Republic yet they went out in the group, 2nd round and quarter finals. Just goes to show its important not to peak too soon and don't get too carried away with the opening performances. Also as an England fan if only we'd have scraped through on the lottery of the shoot out i would have had great hope because of this.

Man, it was intense and no way does the score reflect the game. There should be a rematch at the end of the tournie since that was such a classic game. Italy was the better team throughout- but both sides played beautifully.

Great game- i loved every second of it. From the skill of the ball to the great sportsmanship- wonderfull.

How's that? 2 of the world cup titles of Italy date back before the second world war and the title of 1982 is also ages ago. France won the world cup 8 years ago (with Zidane still playing now) and Portugal the euro cup 2 years ago... Really you arent making any sense
