I still don't think Scolari hasn't really been tested yet though. Both of the times we went out to Portugal it just came down to the player's bottle. Still, Sven's leaving so we'll see how the players perform under McLaren. They should've made more of an effort for Hiddink though. He's gone to Russia, who I expect to perform well in 2010.

Yeh they actually started showing a bit of guts and determination in the last 35 minutes. But that's all really. They were never great going forward and were hindered by the fact they had one less player.I thought Hargreaves was brilliant though.I think he has answered his critics in this tournament as he has given good displays when ever he has played IMO.

England did lack something going forward, agreed. It can't be too long though until we see Lennon start. He played like a hero again at such a young age. Walcott didn't get used, another idiot decision from Sven.

Meh in this day in age diving is a huge part of the game and its up to the refs to deal with it - which they haven't.At all.Instead they are giving odd free kicks and booking players where there is no need.FIFA's new "crack down" has just resulted in fucking chaos and games getting ruined because of dodge refs.

And it's probably going to get worse from here. Btw, does anyone know where the next World Cup is?

Even still, you cannot blame anyone but England themselves for their exit.Right from day 1 to today they struggled to live up the hype and never played above mediocre in any of their games. In short - they were shockingly average in every aspect.

I guess, they never seemed to get off the ground. This tournament WAS a really good chance to win it...they might not get it again...

Crikey.

I reckon yous wil do well with McClaren. He is a proper manager who players would look up to and respect - which I believe wasn't the case with Sven.

It was a bit of an insult to Darren Bent (19 goals) and Defoe - savage player to bring Walcott.A player who played what? 10 1st division games in total? It was a joke.He knew that Rooney and Owen were struggling with injuries too so to not bring another proven striker was pure idiocy.

And it's probably going to get worse from here. Btw, does anyone know where the next World Cup is?

I dunno, alot of pundits are kicked up a fuss, perhaps FIFA will maybe listen for a change.. 2010 is being held in South Africa. The weather will be fairly vicious!

The Italians don't deserve to be there either. It's terrible how much of an effect one bad call by a ref can make.

First of all: watch that play again. It wasn't an outright foul, but the Australian bastard did his level best to stay down and get in the way of Grosso (the italian player that threw himself on the ground). If he had been sportsmanlike and gotten up to keep on playing, Grosso would have hada clear, very close-up shot on net.

Second of all: What, you're convinced that Australia deserves to be in the Semi-finals in our place? Please.

Pure awesomeness. You must read it.

I think France got some high chances on winning, same as Italy and Portugal, but Germany definitively has a great advantage against them. They beated Argentina on penalties (and I'm Argentinian so I suffered pretty much :( ) we didn't deserve to win I guess, but that aint the point. So I think Final is going to be...France vs. Germany, Portugal comes 3rd and Italy 4th...its just a prediction but I think France will win (they have been playing pretty good in the final phase).

GO FRANCE!!!

Why the fuck should they care? They suck ass and their trainer looks like a fat caveman, no manners whatsoever. And he should seriously consider wearing a belt so he won't have to pull his pants up every 5 seconds.

Italy vs Portugal would be the battle of the dives, whining and look sad at the ref.

would be kinda funny if you ask me, i'd rather have both teams explode though.

Exactly what I want. If Portugal get to the final they're gonna receive such a butt fucking from Germany it's unbelievable. I had a bet with a friend the day before the World Cup started. He bet Argentina would win it, I bet Germany would... now he's shitting his pants and all being well will need to pay up.

Yesterday I was watching the England game at a friends with 15 other people. Whenever there was a controversial decision I think we made a new enemy on the street. The refereeing at times was a farce, but then again you could suggest that the 3 officials being Argentinian had something to do with it... There's always that chance. I think that was displayed with Rooneys red card. He was jostlign with two other players trying to stay on his feet and accidentally stood on someones crotch.

I think this World Cup the referees have been somewhat 'card happy' when they didn't need to be. They're meant to be cracking down on diving but instead they crack down on challenges that don't deserve a booking. I did get the sense England were holding back in their challenges because the domestic leagues in England are without a doubt the most physical.

As for Christiano Ronaldo, he clearly has no respect for his teammates back in Manchester just looking out for number one like that. Although i'm assuming when the regular season starts again if he's no longer dissatisfied at Manchester United and stays, "Good Old Fergie" will definitely have him on the first team 100% of the time. As for his dive where he didn't even get clipped and screamed out in pain... he deserves a bullet to his kneecap.

I'm glad to see the back of Sven also. I think Steve McLaren will do a better job because he's been managing in England and is more at home with the style of English play which he'll be able to incorporate into the teams tactics. Ever since Sven managed England there's always been a sense that the team hasn't properly gelled. I think now that will go and England can reach their true potential instead of being the worlds 2nd biggest underachievers in football (behind Spain).

Yea yea I know it's a tad late, i've just got home.

Well, its true about C. Ronaldo, but he doesnt has too much respect also on the field with the Portugal team, I mean he almost does everything by himself, and only assisted a couple of times to other players, if you have seen Netherlands vs. Portugal you would know what Im talking about, even though they win they played REALLY bad

Anyone see the English Newspapers today? Especially the Sunday Mirror

They want C. Ronaldo out of the country.

Now lets be fair, he is playing on international duty, not to get the approval of his premiership team mates.

I got over England's loss, and never actually think we would win. But we got so encouraged that we may win, in the end we reach the same stage we always do.

I hate the media who make the country look like celebrity and football mad people.

I agree. Also, I think that it is disgraceful about the fact that players surround the referee just to get someone sent off/warned or whatever else. FIFA should address this matter.

It's quite an emotional time for english football, with Sven leaving, Beckham resigning as captain and all this Ronaldo nonsense.
