Why is there a link in there that shows people how to write code that is un-maintainable?I don't really think that should be there.

someone linked to it on the page before, I debated putting it there or not. I should probably put a warning or something with it. It's basically a cheap way of not getting yourself fired, but I'm pretty sure it's more of a joke than anything. Meh. Kind of unecessary.

i made a console program that makes a square based on the user's width/length input

should i make a tutorial to do that?

it would help with understanding for loops.

No, make a tutorial on for loops and put that in as an example - that would be a good tutorial.

What sort of functions would I use in order to:
- launch another program
- detect input from a serial port

Ive learned basic C++, but not everything Id like to know.

1) ShellExecute[Ex] or system calls appear to be the popular choice.
2) Various structures available for different ports, e.g. COM port communication is mostly handled using COMMCONFIG, COMMTIMEOUTS in part with functions such as GetCommState, SetupComm, etc. More info on communications in general here

hey! great idea and good tuts.
im new to this forum and i have been learning C++ at school (yr 10 aus system) and these tuts rule! there simple and help me with y work because it shows me how c++ works.
some of the intermediate tuts are helpful (althougth i know most of it it gives me a better understanding of it).

I have writen a code that graphes a linear equation if the user inputs the gradient and y intercept (am currently trying to get it to work if a hole equation is put in). it is using the console aplication so i ave to use charectors like spaces, hashes, "-'s" and things like that. i could write a tut on it and post it but later.

i am writing a tut for a post with tuts that help me lol :)*chuckls to self*.

humbug

BTW please do a tut on strings. thanx
