With all of that oil under the volatile middle East... what do you think would happen if tomorrow, the powers that be said, "Hey, we are announcing a new invention tomorrow that will revolutionize the energy industry. We don't need oil (or any fossil fuel) any more."

So, what do you think would happen? What are those countries going to do without oil? Do you think alternative fuels are being suppressed due to the potential (bad) impact an alternative fuel would have on global politics?

Do you know what would happen?

The entire world of mature countires would rejoice.

If we can get rid of our dependence on Oil, suddenly the idiots in the Middle East will matter just as much as Haitai or the Congo. The West and East won't give a dman what happens to the crazy tribes in the Middle East anymore, and that will be the end of that.

There is no chance of it happening, thus no real reason to ponder it.

If it did happen? Massive economic recessions in Saudi Arabia and other nations which rely solely on oil revenue.

I wouldnt be suprised if oil companies where purposely holding back (or seriously hindering) the invention of a newer, cleaner alternative fuel.

Well if it did hypothetically happen then i bet the west would use it for their own needs....by that i mean well own needs yes but manipulate maybe some other countries in doing what they want in exchange for it.

Indeed, there would be massive economic reform, but it would never happen. Not if the oil companies have anything to say about it, which they do.

So I'm basically awesome.
