what is after death? 2006-02-16 00:02:09 Reply

Ok i know this is a bit off-topic, but this is the forum which this best sits in.
so, what do you think happens after you die? i belive we are reencarnated into a different dimension, and we hop from tdimension to dimension as we die, which is identical to the last one.
I don't REALLY belive in heaven and hell, because as you probly know back in greek and roman times they called almost everything they couldn't explain a "god". Perhaps it's the same for current times.
Share your idea's, and keep an open mind please.
please don't diss other people's beliefs either.

Try to remember everything you can from before you were born.
So no recollection huh!
Probably something along that line.

How can you really 'believe' that something like that could happen after death? There is no evidence, empirical or otherwise, to suggest that our life is going to 'flash before our eyes' or we are going to be reincarnated. These are just things you'd like to believe, rather than true beliefs. Once the brain is dead, then there is no conciousness. A bit like being asleep, without the dreaming, or perception of time, forever.

well, billions of people can't be wrong. i'd rather belive in something then nothing, who knows? no1 has been there and back, so there is no telling what it is. once a human being dies, he loses 21 grams of his total body weight. what do you say of tht? maybe there is something called life other then animation caused by the brain.

Alot of people have claimed that they have been to heaven and they have been to hell and have described greatly of what happens when they die. Such as they become a spirit and remain on earth for like 4 seconds before either demons and angels come to take them into heaven. But its a scary thing not knowing because you have people saying that there is a hell and people saying there isn't but no one really knows for sure. Personally I think it would be a great gurantee to believe in hell. If it doesn't exist then so what, you rot in the ground. But if you don't believe in it and it does exist then you are fucked.

i would have to agree, after death there would be nothing. therefore you should enjoy life while you have it, and make as much of a positive difference in the world as you can.

I like the quote life is exciting, death is peaceful. It’s the transition where the problem lays. Why would death be so bad? You no longer have to worry about anything, because nothing can harm you anymore. You have achieved invulnerability because you can no longer be damaged. People like to sleep, if death was nothingness like sleep seems like (sometimes) then why fear death? The fear comes in the uncertainty. If we knew what was coming, we would be less fearful, even if we didn’t want to die.

Well, religion was invented as a means of comforting people from the fear of death, and most all religions make things up to comfort people and explain things that they cant explain, today however science has a reason and explanation for almost everything.

This is a retarded thread because it can't be answered.

Yet, since this is an opinion based forum I believe that when you die you go to heaven and all of that.

I think when you die, you wake up as something else, be it a chicken, another person, an alien, a robot, whatever comes to life. But hey, what do I know? I'm only mortal!

Well, since energy can not be destroyed but can only change form. I believe our energy simply changes into something else.

That's called thermodynamics and it only happens to heat, not your other energies or consciousness, moron.

That's called thermodynamics and it only happens to heat, not your other energies or consciousness, moron.

Entropy applies to energy in general, moron.

But it does not say anything about conciousness.

Did I say entropy? No, dumbass, I said thermadynamics and it is the only form that significantly escapes from the earth.

But it does not say anything about conciousness.

That is the whole point of the topic. Whether you're aware or not of your death.

Well, dumbass, I had assumed you were refering to the second law of thermodynamics, but appearently you were simply regurgitating facts that you had heard in an attempt to seem intelligent.
Energy cannot be created or destroyed; it can only change forms, as was said above. Now, if that only applies to heat, what other forms does it change to?

Don't assume, read. I don't believe I ever did say "According to the second law of thermodynamics factor A is the only thing that can ______ (fill in). Did you learn reading comprehension from the slow class or something?

but appearently you were simply regurgitating facts that you had heard in an attempt to seem intelligent.

Oh yes, I guess that's why I included moron and cynical attitude at the end of that post, to display how much of a sophisticate I am.

Energy cannot be created or destroyed;

matter*

it can only change forms, as was said above. Now, if that only applies to heat, what other forms does it change to?

I don't believe I ever stated anything that conflicted with that, the way he said it made it sound like all aspects would undergo conversion. I just stated that it's called thermodynamics and it applies to heat, because it is one of the few things that do transfer after death from a living organism, oh, and called him a moron while I was at it.
Maybe it was my fault for not being more specific and including every other fricking thing that can, but I thought even an idiot would of filled in the gap of what I didn't mention, guess I was wrong though.
