4.09 / 5.00 15,161 Viewsfor a while now i've been trying out frame by frame animation, and one major factor that is needed is knowing the body.
Stances
Body Movement, and so on.
For help i've been scanning through karate and Fighting sites and looking at the master perform these moves. Scan them over 5 - 10 times and try and convert it to flash, after time you'll memorise what happens to the body.
E.g when doing kicks it is best to always keep your back straight.
Also say a (Roundhouse kick) There is rotation in the hips which turn towards the attacker.
Knowing these pointers are always helpful and i hope that inspiring Fbf animators will release some good movies.
Good luck and have fun
So this will help with frame by frame action flix. Hmmm your advice seems good.
Ehhh, I've found that it looks way cooler in FBF animation if everything is overexaggerated, nothing has to be straight and you don't have to follow pre-determined rules. Sure its great to have background knowledge of the body, but you can use your knowledge to tweak all the movements and give it lots of STYLEZ.
always behind schedule.
To over-exagerate anything you need to have background knowledge. Granted if everyone followed the rules all Fbf animations would like the same but i'm only providing basic knowledge needed.

Then your doing a damn good job :)
always behind schedule.
could you link us to some of these fighting and karate sites
All karate This is the one ive been using regulary it has, kicks, punches, blocks and so on. everything you would need for a fight scene.
Try to act out motions yourself. That helps. You look like an idiot though.
Yeah, i did that before i discovered letting other people do it for me :D. In the mirror repeating moves, the good ol' days.
Ok, i made this using the technique i just showed as you can tell, the force of the kick can be seen when using this. =) hope it helps.

nice one!
What was the FPS in that kick adaptation?
I'm trying to get a good idea of how many frames to use when I'm doing fbf.
you're ment to use 20+ for smooth animation but, because the clip of the man was at 12fps i worked of that.
Another example using the technique,
In closing this techinique is useful and extremely easy to use. One thing i have to say is not to trace on a new layer. it WILL NOT look right.
Good luck :P
haha this picture was on the site you linked us to.
Heh, what can i say women are bitches :D..it was proberbly because he said her ass looked big :(.

You really do, and I sometimes do it in public without knowing it. =(
i'd get that checked out, could be a new type of physical turrets.
so you practically are saying rotoscoping?; thats old and not really an advice, anyone can do it but try to get a video for every movement you need, that will be a pain in the ass.
