You people still talking about the War of 1812.
Hate to break it too you, but those were British soldiers stationed in Canada. You actually think there canadian.
Anyways, The US did burn down the Parliment building in Toronto, and we did beat the British at Fort McHenry and slaughtered them in New Orleans.

Well hate to break it to you (both canadian and american sides)
But, the american side of the story and the Candian side of the story are both over exaggerated.
Yes the Toronto parliament building was burned down. But the history books in Canada don't mention that.
No those were not british forces stationed in Canada, The Canadian military was still under control by the British at the time.
And yes the white house was set of fire as a result of our Parliament building being burned.
All in all, no one won that war. It was peacfully ended with land divsion treaties.

Anyway this is a post about Steven harper. Not who's military is better.
If you ask me, I don't know. And I certainly don't want to find out (getting drafted is not my idea of a good time)
Well back to the orginal post. Steven harper being elected will not be my most favourite part in history now but whatever.
The good news is he can't get anyone to agree over his new budget and gun control.
In short, this will be a wasted term for all of Canada.

Parliment was burned down, and also, in Washington, the federal building was burned down, it was rebuilt and called the white house sicne the only kind of paint back then was white. So Canadians (British soldiers that became Canadians anyway...) burned down the american parliment.
Stephen Harper looks like an idiot in that picture, hey everybody has a picture where they look like an idiot, but he is not an idiot, in comparison to Bush, this guy is fucking Stephen Hawking.

Amen, Harper said he will make the crime rate go down, well with the Liberals no longer in office, naturally, it will go down.

In Canada, I'm not sure what you'd consider leftist or right, but in the US the liberals are extremely soft on criminals. All they do is slap them on the wrist and give them hugs and kisses afterwards. It seems conservatives are in the majority of people, who know how to punish criminals appropriately.

Punishing criminals comes at a price.
The longer they are in prison the more space and services will be needed.
Liberals have been doing a very good job at controling crime. Remeber, the conservative party wants to abolish the gun licenses and increase taxes for poorer people
Its not all about punishment that reduces crime. It's also about motive and opportunity.
Poor people have enough problems without having to worry about more taxes. Some people steal and take up a life in crime because of their poor situation in life.
And if guns become easier to get (as in no license training and background checks), obviously more criminals or people with criminal intentions will be able to get them.
