A lot of people have been asking about the new slogan. I first addressed the NG slogan more than two years ago, in this thread.

I still love "The Problems of the Future, Today!" and intend to let it live on as a part of NG, but I have the same issues I had two years ago - it just isn't relevant to what the site has become. NG is a massive creative community that represents all sorts of artists and the old slogan makes it sound like a bad thing. Yeah, the slogan is "edgy" and "cool", but what can I say - I'm not an angsty teen anymore.

I once told a fan that I wouldn't be true to myself if I spent the rest of my life pretending to be an angsty teen in order to cater to the angsty teen market. I had been an angsty teen and thus NG attracted that sort of crowd, but like Bart said on the Simpsons, "making teenagers depressed is like shooting fish in a barrel."

I like to think NG has all the same "edge" as it always had. After all, we still allow the same content, much to the chagrin of parents and prudes. Being angry and "in your face" is not something I want to dwell on, though. The community is massive and there are a lot of artists looking for support and feedback. I hate seeing negative attitudes prevail on the site when there is so much amazing stuff going on here.

Newgrounds was the first internet community of its kind and a lot of good has come from it. Artists are putting out DVDs, getting sponsorships and finding good jobs as a result of their involvement in the NG community. I actually get a good deal of letters thanking NG for being the catalyst for personal success. I like those emails a lot more than the mean, pushy ones that make all sorts of demands for MORE (though they are duly noted).

With all the good coming from NG, I don't feel the need to put a negative spin on it. NG is no longer the problems of the future today, NG IS THE FUTURE, TODAY. I would change our slogan to "The Future is Now", but that was the Neo Geo slogan. Can you tell I get a lot of inspiration from SNK? :)

As for the new slogan... I came up with it one day while I was in the shower. I was thinking about how NG has grown to include all sorts of content and is basically trying to be everything to everyone. Then I realized, NG is not everything to everyone, it's everything BY everyone... I think that's pretty NEAT.

As for the other complaints about the new header... We'll try making the buttons a little smaller and cutting down the vertical space as much as we can without screwing it up. And I promise, the redesign Stamper is working on LOOKS AMAZING and fits much nicer with the new header, which he has already been tweaking.

I have to say, I quite like the new header and the new slogan. When is the rest of the re-design going to be finished by?

I like it. Don't really remember the old slogan thread much, but I'm pretty sure 'Everything, by everyone' is equally as good as any ideas in that thread.
I like the new layout, too.

Tom, if people hate the slogan so much, why can't it be like that thing in those pages of blammed movies and randomly change?

I personally can't wait for the new design, the header looks a lot more updated and fresh compared to the old one. CSS will bring in faster page loading times which is a great thing (even on this 2mb connection NewGrounds isn't the fastest site on the web) and I'm also looking forward to the new hardware you will be installing later in the year. I see great things ahead for NG. :-)

simple & minimal, that's my style.

Newgrounds has a negative image in Kuwait, the country has blocked the entire site. Is there a way to fix this? Whenever I do, I get re-directed to "This site has been blocked by Quality-Net."

http://www.qualitynet.net/unwanted.html

Personally, I think NG is now moving from a dark, angry place to a bright, happy one with all these changes. The header is much brighter than the previous versions, and the "Everything by Everyone" slogan gives it that "extra boost".

I liked the old slogan beacuse of it's originalness, but this new one is very nice too. it's a bit.... standardized, it sounds like something you'd hear on a commercial. And it speaks on behalf of the NG population, too.

In all, it wasn't a change for the worse. The last slogan screamed ''Yeah!'', whilst this one is simply implying ''Alright''. But it works absolutely great with the large changes that have been happening to NG.

as for the new slogan, i kinda liked the old one better, even though it has nothing to tell about the site.

You damn well better. I didn't discard an 800x600 resolution so I could be stared at by buttons the size of my thumb all the time >:|

The sign in thing looked better as a popup too. Still, I guess we have to learn to love changes.

It is rather big but what I don't like is that fact I can't stay signed in If I were to close the window now... That pretty much sucks for me. The button layout is some what odd and the header is huge... after some tweaking you will get it right.

Woah... blocked by an entire country. Now that's badass. I'm not sure what we can do about it. I need to find out what standards Kuwait uses to block sites.

Maybe it's time to update the search tool next time? I use google to search for flashes or topics on newgrounds becuse the ng searchbar is so crappy.
